Landslides and floods can disrupt traffic, but people in Da Nang disaster areas are not isolated

The 250th Engineering Brigade, Military Region 5, has overcome floods and edged the forest to transport necessities, food, and medicine to isolated people in Da Nang.

On October 31, the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My coordinated with the 270th Engineering Brigade to organize support for necessities for people in the South Tra My - southwest of Da Nang City, which is still cut off by flooding, landslides, and traffic jams.

By last night - October 30, the rainfall in the mountainous areas west of Da Nang city had decreased, the water level of the rivers gradually receded, however, many residential areas were still cut off, making it difficult for mechanical vehicles to access. The work of supporting necessities for people in isolated areas has been proactively and actively implemented by agencies and units.

However, this work is still facing many difficulties due to traffic disruption. According to the Provincial Steering Committee for Defense of Area 3 - Tra My, the management unit currently has 167 landslides and 146 traffic landslides, of which 45 have been repaired. There have been 21 landslides in residential areas. More than 1,000 households with more than 4,000 people evacuated and relocated have returned home safely. The whole area had 4 deaths, 2 missing people, and 9 injured people. 52 houses completely collapsed, 1 house partially collapsed. The electricity and telecommunications systems in Tra Leng and Tra Giap communes and some areas in Tra Doc, Tra Tan, Nam Tra My communes are damaged and have not been repaired.

On October 31, the Defense Command of Region 3 - Tra My coordinated with the 270th Engineering Brigade to organize the transportation of 460 gifts, including banh chung, banh mi, drinking water, instant noodles, dry food, clothes, medicine... to people in Song Y, Ngoc Giap, Ngoc Tu villages (Tra Tan commune), villages 6, 7, 9 (Tra Doc commune). At the same time, the Military Region presented gifts of 500 kg of dry food and 4 tons of rice from the City Military Command to the people.

The gifts from the army to the people in areas with traffic disruption and hardship are a responsibility and obligation to "serve the people". Traffic is difficult, floods and landslides are cut off, but people in disadvantaged areas are not isolated.
