On October 30, the Department of Irrigation of An Giang province said that the landslide in My Hoa Hung commune on October 29 caused some property damage, affecting traffic.
Specifically, at around 1:00 p.m. on October 29, a landslide occurred at the wholesale market in Group 3, My Thuan Hamlet and Group 1, My Khanh 1 Hamlet, My Hoa Hung Commune, An Giang Province. The landslide is about 120m long, eating about 15m deep into the shore. Currently, the above landslide location has directly affected traffic routes, vehicles no longer participate in traffic through this area.
Initial determination: The landslide area is located in the area previously warned by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of An Giang province; located right in a curved section with a flow close to the shore, water flowing rapidly, combined with a large shore load (houses, ministries and traffic), causing landslides and subsidence in the area.
Fortunately, the incident did not cause any human casualties. However, a grocery store was completely collapsed; 8 households were affected by landslides (with 23 people, including 1 household in My Khanh hamlet and 7 households in My Thuan hamlet); 1 overpass for traffic was completely collapsed. Estimated damage is over 1 billion VND.
The Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Hoa Hung commune sent the Military Forces, Commune Police, My Thuan Hamlet and My Khanh 1 Hamlet to the scene to direct and relocate the assets of people directly affected by landslides.
Mobilize people around to cut down the edge of trees, clear forest dust, move architectural objects to reduce weight and pull up boundary ropes, install barriers, temporary signs, hang warning lights, etc. to ensure traffic safety. At the same time, continue to monitor to warn and mobilize people and households at risk of subsidence and landslides to move to safe places.
Mobilize people in areas at risk of further landslides to move to safe places to ensure people's lives and property. The Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Irrigation Sub-Department will survey, evaluate, and consider proposing to the Provincial People's Committee to support the handling and repair of the above road section and support households affected by landslides.
According to the report, this landslide section is included in the proposed list of central capital to support investment according to the Official Dispatch of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee on the necessity of investing in sewers and embankments to prevent coastal erosion, riverbank erosion, and ditches in areas with dangerous and urgent landslides in An Giang province.
