On March 30, Lao Cai Provincial Hydrometeorological Station informed that tomorrow (March 31), the low-lying area in the North will experience localized hot weather due to the influence of the hot low pressure area in the West developing and expanding to the East.
Forecast for the next two days, the highest temperature is commonly from 35 - 37°C, in some places above 37°C; the relative lowest humidity is from 60 - 65%. The hot sun concentrates in the period from 12:00 to 16:00 daily. Some areas such as Van Ban, Bat Xat, Bao Yen, Bao Thang are likely to record the highest temperature in this period.
The meteorological agency predicts that this heat wave is likely to end from April 1, 2026.
Due to the impact of hot weather combined with low air humidity, the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas increases due to the large demand for electricity, and at the same time, there is a potential risk of forest fires throughout the province.
In addition, hot weather can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and even stroke due to heat shock when people are exposed to high temperatures for a long time.
Recommend people to proactively take measures to prevent heatstroke, use electricity safely and economically, and strengthen fire prevention and fighting. Warning of the level of natural disaster risk due to heatstroke is determined at level 1.
Previously, from March 29 to the morning of March 30, Lao Cai province had heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, injuring 3 people.
Natural disasters also damaged 4,166 houses; 5.6 hectares of crops, industrial crops, and fruit trees were damaged. In addition, 7 schools and 2 cultural houses had their roofs blown off.
Total estimated damage is about 25.6 billion VND.
