In response to the complicated developments of super typhoon Ragasa, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province issued an urgent telegram, requesting units and localities to synchronously deploy preventive measures to ensure the safety of people and infrastructure works.
According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the morning of September 22, Typhoon Ragasa is active near the East Sea with the strongest wind near the storm center at level 17, gusting over level 17.
It is forecasted that by the morning of September 23, the storm will enter the East Sea, likely to strengthen and develop complicatedly, directly affecting the mainland, including Quang Tri.
The People's Committee of Quang Tri province requested coastal localities, Con Co special area and Border Guard forces, Department of Agriculture and Environment, and Maritime Port Authority to urgently call for and guide ships to safe shelters, resolutely not allowing people and vehicles to operate in dangerous areas.
Communes and wards must inspect areas at risk of landslides and flooding, evacuate people from risk areas; urgently harvest crops, raise aquatic products, and protect construction works under construction according to the motto "green home than old fields".
The dispatch also requires the Department of Agriculture and Environment and the Department of Industry and Trade to direct reservoirs, irrigation dams; hydropower plants to operate according to procedures, ensuring safety downstream.
The Military Command, Police, and Border Guard prepare forces and means to be ready to respond when required. The provincial Hydrometeorological Station must increase warnings and timely information on storm developments.
The Provincial People's Committee emphasized that units must be on duty seriously 24/7, report regularly to promptly direct response, ensuring absolute safety for people.
