According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province, up to now, the total number of fishing vessels registered in the province is 792. Of which, 341 vessels with the largest length of 15 m or more have been fully updated in the VNFishbase national fisheries database.

The province has also completed the registration of fishing vessels subject to "3 no's" (no registration, no inspection, no fishing license), ensuring that 100% of fishing vessels are granted certificates of registration, inspection and fishing license. All relevant information has also been updated to the VNFishbase system, contributing significantly to the management of fisheries in a transparent and sustainable manner.
The work of extending the registration of fishing vessels is being actively implemented, with 329/464 vessels having completed procedures, reaching a rate of nearly 71%.
The provincial authorities have organized 19 independent inspections and patrols. At the same time, coordinate with the Coast Guard Region 4 Command to conduct 3 joint patrols, thereby conducting a total inspection of 582 fishing vessels.
Regarding the VMS device, the authorities have completed the dossier and decided to fine 15 fishing vessels with a length of 24 m or more for losing connection to the VMS device for more than 6 hours while operating at sea without reporting their location to shore.

Soc Trang is one of the provinces with key fishing grounds with a strong development in the fish industry for a long time. With a fishing workforce of up to 307,672 people, including about 5,630 workers directly at sea. This province contributes a significant part to the country's seafood output.
According to statistics, in 2024, Soc Trang's exploitation output will reach 68,581 tons. In particular, from 2023 to now, Soc Trang province has not had any cases of fishing vessels violating foreign waters.
