The accident occurred at around 0:00 on July 9 on the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway, Km220 + 100 through Ham Liem commune, Lam Dong province. At the time of the accident, cars were traveling in the North - South direction.
At the scene, the front of the passenger bus with license plate 78F-002.64 was stuck tightly to the rear of the sleeper bus with license plate 85F - 000.37 traveling in the same direction in front.

At the hospital, 2 more people died and more than 20 passengers were taken for health check-ups and treatment of injuries at many levels.
The identities of the 3 deceased were identified: Mr. Le Pham Anh Vu (born in 1985) - driver of the 85F - 000.17; Mr. Trinh Gia Bao (born in 2009, residing in Khanh Hoa province) - bus assistant 85F - 000.27; Mr. Phan Kim Thanh (born in 2000) - died on the 78F - 002.64 passenger bus.
