On the afternoon of July 21, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien - Head of the Propaganda Department, Cong Binh Corps said that, implementing the direction of the Ministry of National Defense and the Engineering Corps on preventing and fighting storm No. 3, from 7:00 p.m. today (July 21), Brigade 249 will temporarily suspend the protection of bridges and ferries in the Phong Chau bridge area. At 7:30 p.m., the unit will cut the bridge, organize anchorage and secure equipment for the bridge and ferry.

"The unit will organize duty and regularly monitor national hydrological climate forecasts and measure the flow rate, when conditions are safe, the pontoon bridge will be reconnected or the ferry will be guaranteed to bring people across the river as soon as possible" - Colonel Nguyen Dang Chien informed.

At 11:05 on July 21, the Phu Tho Provincial Hydrometeorological Station (under the Northern Hydrometeorological Station) issued a flood warning on rivers in the province.

For the Red River, at 7:00 a.m. on July 21, the actual water level measured at Phu Tho station (Phong Chau bridge in the downstream) was at 13.02m (4.48m below Alert Level 1). It is forecasted that from tonight and tonight until July 25, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers and streams with a flood amplitude of 3-6m.

During this flood, the peak water level on small rivers and streams is likely to rise to Alert Level 2 - Alert Level 3. On Thao River at Am Thuong station, it is likely to be at alert level 2 - alert level 3, at Phu Tho station, it is likely to be at alert level 1.

According to the warning, rising river water levels can cause flooding in low-lying areas along the river, affecting waterway transportation activities, aquaculture facilities, agricultural production, works under construction, sand and gravel mining activities on river banks, river banks and riverbank landslides, and landslides on both sides of the river.

Previously, at 9:00 a.m. on July 21, the Phu Tho Provincial Hydrometeorological Station also issued a heavy rain forecast in the province.
