
According to a quick report from the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province, as of 7:30 p.m. on July 20, the whole province of Nghe An had recorded 1 death, Mr. Vuong Thanh L. (born in 1966, residing in Vinh Loc ward).
Four injured people: Nguyen Tan Dung and Nguyen Huu Khang (born in 2012, residing in Nghia Hung commune) were on their way home to avoid the storm when a tree broke on the side of the road, only suffered soft tissue injuries that did not seriously affect their health; Vo Dinh Nam (born in 1996, residing in Minh Hop commune) was also injured by the impact of the storm; while Ms. Hoang Thi Tinh (residing in Kim Bang commune) was hit by a tree on part of the roof, indirectly causing Ms. Hoang Thi Tinh to break her leg.
In addition to human damage, natural disasters have also seriously affected houses and infrastructure. The whole province had a total of 357 damaged houses of various degrees. Of which, 17 houses were completely damaged (over 70%), 12 houses were severely damaged (from 50-70%), 71 houses were severely damaged (30-50%) and 257 houses were partially damaged under 30%. The education system was also affected when 2 classrooms had their roofs blown off, 2 public rooms had broken glass doors and about 80 meters of fence in educational institutions collapsed.
In the agricultural sector, storms have damaged about 5.55 hectares of rice, 56.7 hectares of crops, 55.6 hectares of perennial crops and 42.25 hectares of annual crops. In addition, up to 116.6 hectares of concentrated fruit trees and nearly 184 hectares of forest were affected, the specific level of damage has not yet been determined. The rain and strong winds also broke 675 rubber trees and more than 1,700 shade trees and urban trees, obstructing traffic and affecting the urban beauty.
In the field of livestock and aquaculture, the whole province recorded 22 barns and many damaged equipment, about 180 square meters of the farm roof were blown away. About 0.4 hectares of traditional fish ponds were affected, causing damage to people in the farming area.
For the industrial system and technical infrastructure alone, the tornado broke 77 electric poles of all kinds, including 37 central and high-voltage poles, 26 low-voltage poles and 14 public lighting poles. More than 2,450 meters of power lines were broken, causing power supply in some areas to be interrupted, greatly affecting people's lives and production.
Faced with complicated weather developments and the level of damage, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has issued an urgent directive document, requiring localities to immediately deploy plans to prevent and combat natural disasters, focusing on reviewing areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep flooding.
Plans to evacuate people from dangerous areas are required to be ready, ensuring the safety of people's lives in all situations.
