Over the past few months, vehicles traveling on Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, from Nha Trang City to Cam Ranh Airport, through Cu Hin Pass, have seen the image of a large rock precariously perched on a cliff.
The rock is about 30m from the road surface and could slide down to the road at any time.
According to many drivers, Cu Hin Pass is a coastal road in Nha Trang with many sharp bends and high traffic density.
The existence of a large rock close to the cliff makes anyone passing through the pass afraid of future risks.
Mr. Tran Van Tuan, a taxi driver who takes passengers from Nha Trang to Cam Ranh airport, said that about a month ago, he saw a rock precariously perched on a cliff.
Mr. Tuan said that it was probably due to the rainy weather combined with erosion that caused the rock to move.
"The soil structure under the rock has been unconnected for a long time, the risk of it rolling down to the road surface is very high," said Mr. Tuan.
Receiving feedback from local residents, the Khanh Hoa Department of Transport came to survey the scene. The working group said that the area with the rock is located in a production forest land plot of a local resident.
However, there is a current difficulty that the rock is located outside the road corridor managed by the department. Therefore, this agency has proposed that the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assign Phuoc Dong commune to coordinate with specialized agencies of Nha Trang city to develop a treatment plan.
After the traffic department finished checking, Nha Trang City authorities also organized an inspection and reported to Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee. Regarding the handling of the large rock on the pass, the city assessed that this was "beyond its ability to handle".
Mr. Bui Cao Phap - Chairman of Phuoc Dong Commune People's Committee said that the commune has placed warning signs of landslide risks at locations with large rocks on both sides of the pass.
