On April 23, Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Van Cuong had just issued a document assigning functional sectors to inspect, verify, and clarify information about the incident of drilled well water of households in Thach Quang commune suddenly turning red and purple, which was previously reported by Lao Dong Newspaper.

Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with the Provincial Police, Thach Quang Commune People's Committee and related units to urgently inspect, verify, and clarify the content reflected in the newspaper.
Based on current legal regulations and relevant directives of the Provincial People's Committee, strictly handle violations (if any) within their authority or propose competent authorities to handle them according to regulations; and at the same time have a written response to the Newspaper and report the implementation results to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee before April 25.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, recently (around the first half of April 2026), many households in Quang Trung village, Thach Quang commune discovered that drilled well water suddenly turned red-purple, accompanied by a foul odor.
According to people, this situation had happened before, but this time it is serious and prolonged. Not only is the color of the drilled well water changed, a similar phenomenon has also appeared at Bai Ron stream in the village.
After the incident occurred, people reported it to the local authorities and functional agencies. Upon receiving the information, functional forces conducted an inspection and took water samples to verify and clarify.
Initially determined, the phenomenon of Bai Ron stream water and drilled well water of households changing color is related to the discharge incident of BOB Hanoi Co., Ltd. (textile, laundry sector) in the area.
Regarding the above incident, on April 20, Thach Quang Commune People's Committee also issued a document requesting BOB Hanoi Co., Ltd. to temporarily suspend laundry operations at Thach Tuong Export Garment Factory to review and renovate the entire wastewater collection and treatment system, and overcome the situation of untreated wastewater flowing into the environment.
Along with that, the company is requested to urgently implement pollution remedial measures; coordinate with the Commune People's Committee and households in Quang Trung village with water sources showing strange colors and smells to ensure hygienic water supply for living for affected people until the well water source returns to normal.
