On August 24, information from the Thanh Hoa Provincial Command Office for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control said that the unit had just issued a quick report on the implementation of response to storm No. 5.

Accordingly, identifying storm No. 5 as a very strong storm with a high level of natural disaster risk, risking the safety of people and property of the people, to prevent the situation where mountainous areas are cut off due to landslides and other dangerous situations, Thanh Hoa province has established the headquarters of the Forward Command Committee in the center of the mountainous area (Hoi Xuan commune).
Along with that, the province has organized 8 working groups led by leaders of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee, directly inspecting and directing localities to carry out natural disaster prevention and control work. Including 2 special working groups on duty in key areas of Quan Son and Muong Lat - where flash floods and landslides frequently occur - to directly operate, command response, and minimize damage.
Localities in the province have also prepared plans to evacuate 6,254 households with 28,698 people in coastal areas; 1,722 households with 7,351 people in areas at risk of flash floods; 6,275 households with 26,551 people in areas at risk of landslides in mountainous communes.
In addition, based on the development of floods and the actual situation, the province is ready to deploy additional evacuation plans in case of prolonged heavy rain due to storm circulation, and at the same time prepare all necessary necessities at the evacuation site according to the motto of not letting anyone go hungry, cold, or lack housing.
