On April 25, the People's Council of Thanh Hoa province passed a Resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units. However, in response to people's concerns about naming new communes and wards with consecutive numbers, the Standing Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee issued an official dispatch directing the review and adjustment of naming in some localities.
By the morning of April 27, 9 districts, cities and towns including: Sam Son city, Bim Son town, Nghi Son town, Ha Trung district, Nga Son district, Hoang Hoa district, Yen Dinh district, Vinh Loc district and Ngoc Lac district had held a meeting of the expanded Party Executive Committee, highly agreeing on the removal of the plan to name communes and wards with consecutive numbers. Instead, localities will choose long-standing locations with historical and cultural values to name new administrative units.
For example, in Nghi Son town, the original plan was to name new wards and communes by counting methods such as Nghi Son 1, Nghi Son 2... After collecting public opinions, it was expected to change them to place names associated with history and tradition such as Ngoc Son, Tan Dan, Hai Linh, Tinh Gia, Nghi Son...
However, many opinions expressed regret that the Hai Hoa place name - which has been and is being identified as the Hai Hoa sea tourism brand - could be replaced.
Mr. Tran Quoc Huy - Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Thanh Hoa Province - said that in the afternoon of April 27, district units will simultaneously implement the people's opinions about naming new communes and wards. Due to the urgent time, in the dark and night of April 27, People's Councils of communes, wards, townships and district People's Councils will hold meetings according to the process and approve the naming plan.
Tomorrow (April 28), the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province will meet to agree on the adjustment plan before the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Party Executive Committee met and submit to the provincial People's Council amending the Resolution related to the naming of commune -level administrative units after arranging.
According to the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, after the adjustment, the naming of commune-level administrative units across the province will ensure cultural and historical traditional factors, no longer having the situation of naming by order of numbers as before.
According to the project to reorganize commune-level administrative units, Thanh Hoa province plans to have 166 new communes and wards, including 19 wards and 147 communes, including 71 plain communes and 76 mountainous communes.
Thus, after the 9 districts, cities and towns mentioned above agree to remove the plan of naming communes and wards with consecutive numbers, all 26 district-level administrative units in Thanh Hoa province after the arrangement will no longer have communes and wards with numbering and naming places.
