The Nam Cat Lake road project has a total investment of 226 billion VND, starting construction in September 2023. The road has a total length of more than 6.5km, invested by the Bac Kan City Construction Investment Project Management Board.
Section 1 is 1.35km long, each lane is 5.25m wide. Section 2 is a grade IV mountainous road, with a road width of 5.5m. Section 3 is a grade B rural road with a road width of 3m.
Recorded by PV on January 12, after 16 months of construction, the shape of the road gradually appeared. At the construction site, hundreds of workers and machinery were mobilized to implement the project. Soil and rocks from high hills were scraped and leveled in low-lying areas. Sub-items such as drainage culverts, water intake steps, and hard bridges were also deployed synchronously.
According to the investor, for the construction work, in package No. 14, over 65% of the volume has been completed. Contractors are digging, filling the roadbed, building drainage culverts, water intake steps, and constructing precast structures. The section Km1+350.00-Km2+050.00 is constructing the crushed stone pavement structure.
In package 15, 7.4% of the contract volume has been achieved. For Cao Lan bridge, the Provincial People's Committee has approved lowering the water level in the reservoir. Currently, the construction unit is constructing the road down to pier M1 and pier T1. The total land area recovered for the project is over 32 hectares, of which 26 hectares have been recovered so far, and the second phase of land allocation procedures are being carried out.
On January 12, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Cong Hoa - Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Bac Kan province said that according to reports from the investor, the road project to Nam Cat Lake will be completed in 2025. Although there are some difficulties in terms of land, the progress is being built to complete in 2025, still ensuring the time for capital allocation and project implementation time in the plan.
Once completed, the Nam Cat Lake route will help synchronize traffic infrastructure, create connections between the city center and the lake, and promote tourism, economic and social development.

Nam Cat Lake was built in 2010 and completed in 2020 in Duong Quang Commune, Bac Kan City with a cost of nearly 500 billion VND. The lake area is up to 160 hectares, with a water storage capacity of 12 million m3.
When completed, the project will provide irrigation water for more than 530 hectares of agricultural and aquaculture land (self-flowing 93 hectares, creating a source of 441 hectares); providing domestic, industrial and service water for Bac Kan city is 24,000m3/day and night.
