On November 20, the leader of the People's Committee of Thac Ba commune, Lao Cai province, said that the local government is searching for the parents of a baby girl abandoned in the commune.
At about 6:40 p.m. on November 18, Thac Ba Commune Police received a report from Ms. V.T.N. (born in 1990, residing in Minh Than village) about people discovering a newborn baby wrapped in diapers, lying in a basket of clothes, near a banana bush in Minh Than village.
After receiving the report, the People's Committee of Thac Ba commune assigned the commune police to coordinate with the commune health station to inspect.

Initially, it was determined that the abandoned baby girl was about 1 month old, weighed 5kg, and was in normal health. Next to the child was a lane containing the child's clothes and belongings. In addition, there was a piece of paper in the wardrobe recording the baby's date of birth as October 2 and some other contents.
"The paper stated that the child's family was not eligible for raising him and wanted to ask someone else to take care of the child. The location of the girl abandoned in banana bushes near a pagoda in the commune", Mr. Luong Thai Son, Vice Chairman of Thac Ba Commune People's Committee informed.
According to Mr. Son, the authorities have made a record of the handover of the abandoned child to Ms. V.T.N.'s family, so that they can temporarily raise the child according to regulations.
