Entering a new era with unpredictable changes in the world situation, the requirement is to continue to consolidate, renew and further promote the great national unity bloc in new spaces and forms. Implementing the direction of the General Secretary, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations are vigorously implementing many synchronous and comprehensive solutions to consolidate, spread and promote the spirit of great solidarity in the new development stage of the country.
New factors of the era affect the great national unity bloc
The new era opens up many opportunities for development but also poses unprecedented challenges for the great national unity bloc. General Secretary To Lam emphasized that today's great solidarity is not only limited to the traditional village community, agencies and units, but must be expanded to the digital space, economic - professional space and international space of more than 5 million overseas Vietnamese.
First of all, the explosion of digital technology has formed a "second social space", where people interact and express their opinions quickly and publicly. This is a favorable environment for promoting democracy and gathering people's intelligence, but it is also a place where bad, toxic, distorted, and dividing information can spread at a high speed. If the great unity bloc does not proactively participate and lead, it can be affected, even hurt.
Second, market economic development, urbanization, and labor migration have created many new social groups with diverse interests and needs. The rich-poor differentiation and development gap between regions are at risk of creating social cracks if not handled harmoniously. Therefore, great solidarity in the new era must expand beyond the traditional gathering framework, reaching even informal groups that are difficult to organize.
Third, climate change, extreme natural disasters, epidemics and non-traditional risks put great pressure on millions of people. The floods causing heavy damage in the North, Central - Central Highlands in 2025 show that there are areas and groups of people who are very vulnerable and need timely and long-term support. This poses a new requirement in coordinating, mobilizing resources and responding in the Front system.
Fourth, the demand for democracy, transparency and people's participation in policies has increased sharply. Nearly 3 million comments on the draft documents of the 14th Congress, of which more than 2 million were via VNeID, are clear evidence of the need to accompany the Party in deciding the roadmap. This is both an opportunity to strengthen consensus and a challenge if the Front does not innovate the way of listening and responding.
Fifth, in the context of increased strategic competition, conflict, ethnic and religious division, the community of more than 5 million overseas Vietnamese is strongly affected by the international environment. Without a suitable mechanism for connection, protection and companionship, it will be difficult to effectively mobilize the intellectual, material and influential resources of overseas Vietnamese for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
The above new points require the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central organizations to innovate their thinking, leadership methods, organize activities, and develop appropriate and proactive solutions to maintain and promote the strength of great solidarity in new conditions.
Strengthening solidarity within the Party and the political system
The General Secretary requested to consider strengthening solidarity in the Party as a key task to build a strong national unity bloc. Following that spirit, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations have focused on tightening discipline, setting an example, improving the leadership capacity and fighting spirit of affiliated Party committees and organizations; maintaining high solidarity and unity in will and action throughout the Party. Along with strictly implementing resolutions and regulations on Party building and rectification, preventing and combating corruption and negativity, the Party Committee focuses on building a team of Front cadres and organizations "both rosy and specialized", with strong political will, and the ability to act in the traditional environment and digital space.
Along with that, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee directs the innovation of the content and form of Party cell activities in a practical direction, close to political tasks, associated with residential areas, associations, and groups. Discussion and issuance of resolutions are closely linked to the requirement to mobilize and gather people, promptly resolve urgent and sensitive issues from the grassroots, and avoid forming "hot spots" and prolonged conflicts. Promoting democracy in the Party goes hand in hand with strictly maintaining principles, discipline, and order, ensuring that all policies and work programs are aimed at the People, starting from the People's lives and for the happiness of the People.
Taking people as the center, caring for social security, improving the material and spiritual life of the people
The General Secretary affirmed: caring for the happiness of the people is both a goal and a driving force of great solidarity. Implementing that direction, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations have synchronously implemented social security programs, sustainable poverty reduction, support for ethnic minorities, remote, isolated, border and island areas - areas vulnerable to climate change, natural disasters, epidemics and labor market fluctuations. The movements "The whole country joins hands for the poor", "For the homeland's sea and islands", "Warm home for workers and laborers" ... continue to be promoted with many creative forms, mobilizing resources of the whole society.
In particular, during the major floods in the North, Central - Central Highlands in 2025, the Front, mass organizations, and mass organizations have closely coordinated with functional forces to organize emergency relief, evacuate residents from dangerous areas, provide food, medicine, and temporary accommodation, and at the same time deploy livelihood support activities and stabilize life after natural disasters. These activities not only contribute to reducing difficulties for people in flooded areas, but also widely spread the tradition of "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", arousing the spirit of mutual love and affection of the Vietnamese people in the new context, when mobilization and contributions can be done both directly and on digital platforms.
At the same time, trade unions, youth unions, women's unions, farmers' associations, veterans' associations, etc. have promoted their representative role and practically cared for each group of members and union members, especially those who are under a lot of pressure in the digital economy, the grassroots economy, "big" labor, and informal labor. Taking the people as the center, all policies of the Party Committee aim to ensure that each citizen and each family has a minimum and safe standard of living, has the opportunity to rise up and participate in the overall development process of the country.
Strongly innovate the activities of the Front and mass organizations towards the grassroots
Quite grasping the General Secretary's viewpoint on the Front must be an "open forum for the People", the Party Committee has directed the organizing system to comprehensively innovate the content and methods of operation, harmoniously combining traditional methods with strong application of digital technology.
Specifically:
- Focus on building a "Digital Front" model, developing information channels, dialogues, receiving feedback from people on digital platforms and social networks; proactively provide accurate, timely, friendly, easy-to-understand, and easy-to- share information.
- Strengthen social supervision and criticism of policies and projects directly related to people's lives; especially infrastructure development programs, urban areas, population transfer, environment, social security; protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people.
- Diversify the way of gathering social classes, human beings, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, businessmen, prestigious people in the community, ethnic minorities, overseas Vietnamese; attach importance to networking, clubs, open forums, and online seminars.
- Build self-management and community solidarity models in residential areas in a modern, civilized, green - clean - safe direction, more closely linked to the task of building the Party, government, socio-economic development, maintaining security and order right from the grassroots.
Innovating the method of operation towards the grassroots level helps the Front and mass organizations truly become "the eyes of the Party", "the support of the People", promptly detecting and solving new problems arising from social life in the digital age.
Promoting People's Intelligence, expanding democracy, widely accepting comments
According to the spirit of the General Secretary emphasized in the article, "the voice of the people is a valuable resource, helping the Party perfect its guidelines". The collection of public opinions on draft documents submitted to the 14th National Party Congress has attracted nearly 3 million opinions, including more than 2 million opinions via the VNeID application - the largest number ever, affirming a new step forward in practicing democracy, especially democracy in the digital space.
The Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations have identified this as a vivid demonstration of the spirit of democracy and social consensus, demonstrating the political responsibility and trust of the people in the Party. From that practice, the Party Committee directs to continue perfecting the mechanism for people to participate in giving comments and supervision through flexible and convenient forms: voter contact conferences, People's forums, hotlines, comments boxes, electronic information portals, mobile applications, etc.
The enthusiastic and responsible opinions of the People are being compiled, deeply analyzed and selected by the Front and mass organizations to recommend to the Party and State, integrated into action programs, work plans, thematic resolutions of the Party Committee and each member organization. Thereby, great solidarity is raised from "People agree with the policy" to "People participate in creating policies", creating a solid foundation for trust and attachment between the Party and the People.
Strengthening the great solidarity bloc of overseas Vietnamese
Implementing the General Secretary's direction on expanding solidarity to international levels, the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and central organizations have strengthened connections between overseas Vietnamese, supported overseas Vietnamese associations, and mobilized overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, businessmen, and experts to contribute to the country's development in many rich and flexible forms.
Programs such as " overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs towards the Fatherland", "Overseas intellectual Forum for green economic development, digital economy, circular economy", free Vietnamese language classes for Vietnamese children in Europe, the US, Australia, and the "For the Sea and Islands of Vietnam" donation activities are maintained and expanded. In addition, the Front closely coordinates with diplomatic agencies and associations abroad to organize programs of hometowns visits, cultural exchanges, and gratitude, to strengthen the bond between overseas Vietnamese and ethnic minority groups.
In the context of multidimensional information and strategic competition, maintaining the trust, pride and sense of responsibility of overseas Vietnamese towards the Fatherland is even more important. The great national unity bloc is therefore not only a gathering place for more than 100 million people in the country, but also extends to millions of Vietnamese hearts across five continents.
International solidarity - expanding friends, seizing the support of the world
According to the orientation of the General Secretary, expanding international solidarity is a strategic task in protecting and developing the country. The Party Committee of the Fatherland Front and Central organizations have proactively implemented people's foreign affairs, strengthened cooperation with peace organizations, friendships, and progressive movements around the world; promoted the role of a bridge between the Vietnamese people - international friends, contributing to building the image of a peaceful, humane, stable and prosperous Vietnam.
Through people's forums, international conferences, exchange and cooperation programs, the Front, mass organizations and mass organizations contribute to conveying the message of a Vietnam that is consistent in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversity and multilateralization; is a trusted friend, a reliable partner, an active and responsible member of the international community. 95 years of the formation and development of the United National Front show that: when the nation is united, Vietnam can overcome any challenge - from the fierce resistance wars to the comprehensive renovation and increasingly deep international integration. Thanks to the strength of great solidarity, we have defeated powerful invading forces, firmly defended independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity; gradually escaped poverty and backwardness, and risen to become a middle-income country with increasingly high prestige in the international arena.
In the new context with intertwined opportunities and challenges, the spirit of great solidarity must be further strengthened as "keeping the children of your eyes".
