On the morning of June 29, speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Hoang Van Dinh - Chairman of the People's Committee of Dong Quan commune, Luc Yen district, Yen Bai province said - the forces had just found the body of a woman swept away by flood and handed it over to her family for funeral arrangements according to local customs.
According to the leader of Dong Quan commune, on the afternoon of June 28, Ms. D.T.Y (23 years old, in village 4, Dong Quan commune, Luc Yen district) went to a wedding party at a family in the commune.
At around 10pm the same day, on her way home, Ms. Y was swept away by the flood and went missing.
As soon as the notice was received, the local authorities and functional forces mobilized forces including militia, commune military, commune police and people to make efforts to search.
At around 7:30 a.m. on June 29, the forces found Ms. D.T.Y's body, about 6km from the location where the flood swept away. The authorities have handed over the victim's body to the family for funeral arrangements in accordance with local regulations.
Mr. Hoang Van Dinh added that recently, in Dong Quan commune, Luc Yen district, there has been prolonged heavy rain, many locations were flooded, landslides, and water levels on streams and rivers flowing through the area have risen.
Local authorities recommend that people should be more vigilant during extreme weather days and heavy rains.
