Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the task of designing and examining the architectural plan of Go Cong Traffic Intersection under component project 2: Investment in completing Go Cong traffic intersection and the road connecting from Hanoi Highway to Go Cong intersection on Ring Road 3 HCMC.
Go Cong intersection is located at the intersection between Ring Road 3 and Nguyen Xien street (Long Phuoc ward), with a research area of about 24.87 ha.
Go Cong intersection is built in the form of a 4-story level crossroads, combined with a central roundabout, including a system of ramp branches (N1, N2, N3, N4) with 2 lanes each branch.
In the completion phase, the project will invest in underpasses on the connecting branch from Hanoi Highway through Long Phuoc, connecting to Dong Nai 2 bridge. Specifically on Ring Road 3, the project will build an additional level crossing (C1) unit with 4 lanes, to complete the cross-section according to the plan.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests that the intersection architectural plan effectively solve the problem of traffic organization, ensuring reasonable traffic diversion, and smooth connection between main axes and parallel roads.
In terms of form, the project needs to have a modern, gentle architectural language, which can showcase unique structures but still ensure sustainability and safety. The proportion of the block must be harmonious with the space and urban landscape of the area.
In particular, Go Cong intersection needs to be researched for artistic lighting solutions, creating architectural and landscape highlights for the eastern gateway, while still meeting traffic safety requirements.
Component project 2 - completing investment in Go Cong traffic junction and the road connecting from Hanoi Highway to Go Cong intersection on Ring Road 3 of Ho Chi Minh City has a total investment of about 5,329 billion VND.
In addition to the Go Cong intersection, the project also builds a road connecting from Tram 2 intersection (Hanoi Highway) to the Go Cong intersection, with a length of nearly 5.9 km.
This road is 107 m to 120 m wide. In the immediate future, 2 parallel routes will be built, with a total of 6 lanes (3 lanes each side), and the land in the middle will be reserved for future expansion.
In addition, the project also invests in a series of overpass projects including: Le Van Viet - D1 road intersection overpass (each location has 2 units, each unit has 3 lanes); Go Cong canal overpass (2 units, each unit has 3 lanes); Trau Trau canal overpass with 4 units (2 units have 3 lanes and 2 units have 4 lanes).
Component project 1 on compensation, support and resettlement has a budget of about 7,111 billion VND, related to the land recovery of 458 households. Of which, 218 households were completely cleared and 240 households were partially cleared.
According to the plan, site clearance work will be implemented until the fourth quarter of 2026. The project is expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2027 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2028.
When put into operation, the project will directly connect Ring Road 3 with Ring Road 2, improve the efficiency of traffic infrastructure exploitation in the East, and at the same time clear bottlenecks and reduce increasing traffic pressure at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
