According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs, previously the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued Plan No. 149/KH-UBND on organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Saigon - Gia Dinh City officially honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026).
According to the plan, the city will organize the presentation of gifts worth 1 million VND/household to policy families, social protection households, poor and near-poor households and other difficult circumstances in the area.
Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Home Affairs is coordinating with the People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to review and summarize the number of subjects who are people with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of people with meritorious services to the revolution according to the provisions of the Ordinance on Preferential Treatment for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution.
Based on the compiled list, the Department of Home Affairs will coordinate with departments and branches to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to consider and decide on the spending of gifts on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the City bearing Uncle Ho's name.
For social protection households, poor households, near-poor households and other difficult cases, the list will be jointly reviewed and proposed by the Department of Health or the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition to social security activities, Ho Chi Minh City also implements many key projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the City named after President Ho Chi Minh.
According to the plan, the city will complete and put into use 70 projects with 1,251 newly built classrooms to meet the learning needs of students.
Ho Chi Minh City is also expected to start a series of strategic infrastructure projects such as the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line, Ho Tram - Long Thanh airport expressway, and the expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh street combined with riverside park renovation.
In addition, the city also promotes the deployment of the Can Gio international seaport cluster and Cai Mep Ha container port; the sea crossing connecting Can Gio with Vung Tau; and at the same time, promotes attracting strategic investors to participate in building the International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City.
