The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the investment policy for the project to build an intersection connecting the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway with Rung Sac road (formerly Binh Khanh commune, Can Gio district).
According to the approved decision, the project will build another intersection at the intersection level between Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway and Rung Sac Road. The branches connecting from Rung Sac road to the expressway are designed at a speed of 40 km/h; under the site, the roundabout is arranged with a radius of 50 m.
For the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, the project will build an additional unit on the right side of the route to complete the scale according to the plan of 8 lanes, ensuring a design speed of 100 km/h.
In particular, Rung Sac Street will build two underpasses for two-way traffic, prioritizing traffic from Rung Sac Street to Can Gio Bridge and vice versa. Each tunnel is about 610 m long, of which the closed tunnel section is 150 m long, the road surface in the tunnel is 10 m wide.

The total investment of the intersection project is nearly 3,000 billion VND from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
According to the plan, the project is expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2026 and be completed in the first quarter of 2028.
Rung Sac Road is currently the only route connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City with Can Gio and some neighboring areas of Dong Nai province.
Limited transportation infrastructure makes the travel of people in Binh Khanh, Ly Nhon, Tam Thon Hiep, An Thoi Dong, Long Hoa communes mainly dependent on Binh Khanh ferry, which is often congested on weekends and holidays.
Meanwhile, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway started construction in 2014, nearly 58 km long, passing through Long An, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, with a total investment of about VND 29,587 billion.
This expressway plays an important role in connecting the East and Southwest, has been temporarily put into operation for nearly 30 km and is expected to open to traffic in September 2026. However, the section through Can Gio is an elevated expressway, and there is currently no direct connection point.

The investment in the construction of the Rung Sac intersection with the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is expected to create a new traffic axis from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio, facilitating travel and transportation of goods, while promoting the development of urban areas, industrial parks and eco-tourism along the Rung Sac route.
Notably, when this intersection is completed, combined with Can Gio Bridge and the Can Gio - Vung Tau sea-crossing route about to be implemented, a completely new traffic direction will be formed, helping to strengthen regional connectivity, promote tourism and logistics.
