Ho Chi Minh City expands National Highway 1, National Highway 22, Nguyen Van Bua street, Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway access road and Le Van Luong street to increase connectivity with Tay Ninh province.

National Highway 1 expansion

National Highway 1 section from Kinh Duong Vuong street to the border of Tay Ninh province is nearly 10 km long, is an important western gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.

This road will be expanded to 60 m with 10 - 12 lanes, replacing the existing 6 lanes.

The project will complete the Binh Thuan intersection with a scale of 3 floors. At the intersection of National Highway 1 - Kinh Duong Vuong - Tran Dai Nghia, a 4-lane overpass will be built; and a new Binh Dien bridge with 6 lanes will be built.

The project has a total investment of about 16,285 billion VND in BOT form (build - operate - transfer). Of which, more than 9,600 billion VND from the budget is used for compensation and site clearance. The project is expected to recover land from 2,241 households in Tan Tao, An Lac wards and Tan Nhut, Binh Chanh communes.

The project is expected to start construction in the second quarter of 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027.

Expanding National Highway 22

National Highway 22 is a vital traffic route connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Moc Bai international border gate (Tay Ninh province). However, currently the road surface is only 36-40 m wide, and congestion often occurs.

The section of National Highway 22 from An Suong intersection to Ring Road 3, about 8 km long, will be expanded to 60 m with 10 lanes.

Expanding the access road to the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway

Currently, the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressway is being expanded to 6-8 lanes with a total capital of more than 36,000 billion VND.

To synchronize infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City will expand two access roads including: Binh Thuan - Cho Dem 9.5 km long and Tan Tao - Cho Dem 3.7 km long.

Expanding Le Van Luong street

Le Van Luong road connecting Nguyen Van Linh Avenue to Tay Ninh province is more than 10 km long, an important traffic axis connecting the South of Ho Chi Minh City with Tay Ninh, but has not been expanded for many years.

On the previous route, there were 4 iron bridges built before 1975. Among them, Rach Dia bridge and Long Kieng bridge have been newly built. Rach Tom bridge was started in July 2025, while Rach Doi bridge has not been deployed.
