MINH QUÂN |

Ho Chi Minh City will build five major bridges including Thu Thiem 4, Can Gio, Cat Lai, Phu My 2 and Dong Nai 2, expected to reduce traffic congestion and enhance regional connectivity.

Thu Thiem Bridge 4

Thu Thiem 4 Bridge connects Thu Thiem New Urban Area (Thu Duc City) with District 7, crossing the Saigon River, with a total length of 2.16 km (of which the main bridge is more than 1.6 km long).

The starting point of the project is at the intersection of Tan Thuan 2 Bridge - Nguyen Van Linh, going along Nguyen Van Linh Street, turning onto Huynh Tan Phat Street, connecting to Luu Trong Lu Street (District 7). The bridge continues to cross Tan Thuan Port, crosses the Saigon River connecting Thu Thiem Urban Area at the intersection of the North-South axis and Bui Thien Ngo Street.

The total investment is expected to be over VND6,000 billion under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) model. The project is expected to be implemented in the 2025-2028 period.

When completed, Thu Thiem 4 Bridge will help shorten travel time between Thu Duc City, Binh Thanh District with Districts 7, 8, Nha Be and Binh Chanh; at the same time reduce the load on existing roads such as Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Khanh Hoi Bridge, Huynh Tan Phat and Nguyen Van Linh.

Can Gio Bridge

Can Gio Bridge project connects Can Gio district with Nha Be district, crossing Soai Rap river, with a total length of about 7.3 km.

The project starts from Road 15B (parallel to Huynh Tan Phat, Nha Be District), crosses the river and connects to Rung Sac Road in Can Gio District. The total estimated investment is over 10,500 billion VND, also in the form of BOT, expected to be implemented in the period 2025 - 2028.

Can Gio Bridge will replace Binh Khanh ferry, creating a convenient traffic connection from Ho Chi Minh City's only island district to the city center. The project also promotes the development of the Can Gio coastal urban area and the Can Gio International Transit Port.

Cat Lai Bridge

The Cat Lai Bridge project has a total length of more than 11 km, starting at Nguyen Thi Dinh Street (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), and ending at Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway (Nhon Trach District, Dong Nai).

The bridge has 6 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 lanes for non-motor vehicles, with a design speed of 80 km/h to 100 km/h. The project has a total investment of more than 19,000 billion VND.

Currently, the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has assigned the Department of Transport and the consulting unit to work with the functional departments of Ho Chi Minh City to unify the construction plan of Cat Lai Bridge. The units are reviewing and finalizing the route leading to the bridge.

Dong Nai Bridge 2

Dong Nai 2 Bridge will connect Thu Duc City (HCMC) and Long Thanh District (Dong Nai) with a scale of 6 lanes.

The starting point of the bridge connecting Ring Road 3 at Go Cong intersection - branch road from the beltway to Hanoi Highway (Long Thanh My ward, Thu Duc city); the end point connects to DT.777B road (Tam An commune, Long Thanh district).

Phu My 2 Bridge

Phu My 2 Bridge connects Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai) through District 7 in the south of Ho Chi Minh City.

The project starts from the Nhon Trach district bank, crosses the Dong Nai river, follows Hoang Quoc Viet street (6 lanes) and then connects to the branch with Nguyen Luong Bang street. After that, the bridge continues to connect to Nguyen Huu Tho street (the section from Nguyen Luong Bang to Nguyen Huu Tho will have 4 lanes).
