On February 15, a representative of the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district, Thanh Hoa province, said that regarding the information about the pig farm of Ms. Le Thi Chinh's family (in Vien village, Giao An commune) raising hundreds of pigs, causing a foul smell and heavy pollution, the unit is assigning authorities and localities to investigate and handle according to regulations.

Also according to the representative of Lang Chanh District People's Committee, before that, Ms. Chinh's household received a forest contract from Lang Chanh Forestry Company. In 2020, this family leveled the land to build a chicken and duck farm in the form of a household farm. After that, the district requested Giao An commune to work with the family and coordinate with the forest owner (Lang Chanh Forestry Company) to complete the procedures according to regulations.
By 2021, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province had decided to reclaim land from Lang Chanh Forestry Company in a number of communes, including Giao An commune, to hand over to the People's Committee of Lang Chanh district for management.
"Since the decision was made, due to the measurement cost of up to a billion VND, the Forestry Company and local authorities have not been able to measure, hand over and receive the recovered land fund according to the decision" - said a representative of Lang Chanh District People's Committee.

According to this representative, the construction of an illegal farm on forestry land before the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province reclaims it is primarily the responsibility of the forest owner (ie Lang Chanh Forestry Company).
Informing about the above incident, Mr. Le Minh Cuong - Director of Lang Chanh Forestry Company said that the unit was previously under Vietnam Forestry Corporation. In 2017, the company was transferred to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee for management. When he returned to take up the job of Director, this pig farm had existed before.
Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, for about a month now, people in Vien village, Giao An commune (Lang Chanh district, Thanh Hoa) have been upset about the serious pollution caused by a pig farm.
According to the people, this pig farm is located in a valley, but the stench still comes out day and night, making them extremely uncomfortable. The pig farm has a scale of 4 rows of houses on an area of over 1 hectare. Of which, 2 rows of houses are used to raise chickens and ducks, while 2 rows of houses raise pigs with hundreds of pigs.
According to records, pig manure and waste were discharged directly through sewers into a lake next to a barn, with an area of about 500m2. The water in the lake is black, giving off a strong stench.
Receiving the feedback, Giao An commune established an inspection team. Thereby, the team discovered violations at the farm, made a record and requested the household to temporarily suspend livestock farming activities, and reported the incident to the authorities.
