The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen Line project has a total investment of more than VND 7,410 billion, a total length of about 229.5km passing through 31 communes in Lao Cai and Phu Tho provinces, with a total of 468 electric pole foundation locations. The project affects 2,189 households, of which 213 households must be resettled.
In Lao Cai province, after more than 5 months of construction, the 500kV Transformer Station item, an extremely important link, has been being accelerated.
500kV transformer stations play an important role in the power transmission system, with the main function of converting electricity to transmit electricity far away with high efficiency and distributing electricity to consumption areas.

According to the reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper in mid-August, the construction site was still bustling with activities of workers and laborers.
Through observation, a long line of steel pillars, porcelain formwork and equipment serving the operation of the station are in the process of installation. All work is being carried out urgently to soon bring the project to the finish line.
It is known that the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen Transformer Station started construction in March 2025, constructed by PC1 Group Joint Stock Company.
After many months of construction, the construction, including the following items: construction of gate foundation, equipment support foundation, control house, fire water tank, cable ditch, resistance foundation and transformer, has been completed.
The contractor has also completed the installation of gate posts, scissors, first-line equipment and is preparing to install cutting machines.

According to the report of the construction unit, the project has completed the installation of 85% of equipment, ensuring technical power outage on August 19.
Mr. Dang Hoang An - Chairman of the Board of Members of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) - said that the project's site clearance work has completed 468/468 pole foundation locations; handed over the route corridor with 196/242 anchorages, reaching 81%.
The construction units have completed 468/468 pole foundation locations; installed 306/468 steel column locations, and are transporting, gathering and installing the remaining 162 locations. Along with that, the rope is being spread and pulled at 22/242 anchorage areas.

At the inspection on August 9, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that the project must be completed by August 19, 2025 to enhance the safe and stable operation of the National Power System.
Thereby clearing the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and neighboring provinces, promoting socio-economic development, urban development, industry and services.
A representative of PC1 Group Joint Stock Company informed that with the current progress, the contractor is committed to ensuring that the construction items meet the conditions for technical power outage on August 19, 2025.
