Nghe An - Floodwaters from upstream caused Hoi Son Primary School (Vinh Tuong commune) to be deeply flooded, even though it was not raining.

On the afternoon of August 28, Ms. Bui Thi Phuong - Chairman of the People's Committee of Vinh Tuong Commune (Nghe An) - said that many households in the area were flooded due to floods from upstream. Notably, Hoi Son Primary School was heavily flooded, the entire first floor was submerged in water.

"It was not raining but floodwaters poured in quickly, causing the school to be deeply flooded. We have mobilized forces to support the school in moving tables, chairs, and school supplies to the 2nd floor" - Ms. Phuong informed.

The Chairman of Vinh Tuong Commune People's Committee also said that the specific damages are continuing to be counted, while in the immediate future, the government will focus on supporting people and flooded units.

According to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province, due to the impact of storm No. 5, the whole province had 3 injured people; 30 houses were completely collapsed, more than 8,600 houses were damaged, and had their roofs blown off. In the field of education, 184 schools were affected, many health stations and cultural works were damaged, with a total damage of about 1,475 billion VND.
