Recognizing the heroic sacrifice of Major Nguyen Dang Khai while on duty, on April 18, the Central Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union decided to posthumously award the "Courage Youth" Badge to Major Nguyen Dang Khai (born in 1996, hometown of Phu Cu district, Hung Yen province) - an officer of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department, Quang Ninh Provincial Police.
This is a noble award to honor union members and young people who have especially brave actions, ready to forget themselves for the people and the Fatherland.
Authorized by the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the Quang Ninh Provincial Youth Union, performed the ceremony to posthumously award the "Brave Youth" Badge to Major Nguyen Dang Khai.
On the same day, the Minister of Public Security signed a decision to promote the rank of Senior Lieutenant to Major for officer Nguyen Dang Khai.
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the People's Public Security Comrades' Love Fund, the Minister signed a decision to support the family of the Major who died.
The Ministry of Public Security has also completed the dossier to propose the President to posthumously award the First Class Medal of Merit; proposed the Ministry of Home Affairs to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration of recognition as a martyr and award the Certificate of "Fatherland's Merit" to Major Nguyen Dang Khai.
Quang Ninh province organized a working delegation to pay a visit to the martyrs' funeral in his hometown of Phu Cu, Hung Yen province.
Previously, on the evening of April 17, 2025, a working group of the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (Quang Ninh Provincial Police) discovered and arrested two subjects in an inter-provincial drug trafficking and transportation ring near Dragon Castle apartment building (Group 10, Zone 10, Bai Chay Ward, Ha Long City). The seized evidence included 16 heroin cakes.
While chasing the remaining subjects, the criminal group used military weapons to fight back, causing Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Dang Khai to be hit by a bullet and die.
On the night of April 17, Mr. Vu Dai Thang, Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Long, Deputy Minister of Public Security, were directly present at the scene to direct the arrest of the subjects hiding; At the same time, visiting and encouraging the family of sacrifices and injuries, directing the implementation of regimes and policies as prescribed.
Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Quang Ninh Province Police is continuing to expand the investigation and arrest related subjects. In which, a wanted notice was issued for Bui Dinh Khanh (born in 1994, residing in Group 6, Zone 1, Gieng Day Ward, Ha Long City) - one of the main suspects in the case.
