In September 2025, Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee is reviewing and selecting a new location to build a resettlement area to serve the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Project.
This is to ensure safety and site clearance progress according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
Khanh Hoa province's specialized agencies have reported the survey results of two locations that can arrange new resettlement areas in Nhon Hai village and Thanh Hai village (Vinh Hai commune).
These two locations meet the requirements for area and number of resettlement plots, and the arrangement of commercial and service areas to serve job conversion for people, and are in line with the recommendation of the Ministry of Science and Technology: the resettlement area must be outside the emergency protection area, 3 - 5km from the fence of the nuclear power plant.
Mr. Trinh Minh Hoang - Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee noted that the construction of a resettlement area for the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Project is a very urgent task to relocate people in the project area, ensuring the completion of site clearance by the end of 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister.
The new resettlement location needs to be comprehensively considered, not only in terms of infrastructure, environmental conditions but also livelihood opportunities, cultural factors, so that people have a stable and better life after relocation.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches, sectors, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and organizations to increase propaganda and clearly explain the purpose of changing the resettlement area location to create consensus among the people.
At the same time, the Department of Science and Technology will coordinate to invite experts from the Ministry of Science and Technology to directly explain the emergency protection area to ensure the rights, health and long-term safety of the people.
The Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board is assigned to prepare a set of detailed documents on the new resettlement location, clarifying the items, neighboring works and development orientation, helping people feel secure when moving to a new place.
Previously, the resettlement area of the Ninh Thuan 2 Nuclear Power Plant Project was identified in Thai An village (Vinh Hai commune) with an area of 54.4 hectares. However, part of this area is in an emergency protection zone and is no longer suitable for implementation.
