Careful preparation, respecting voters' opinions
In recent days, in Lam Dong province, voter meetings of candidates for the 16th National Assembly (NA) were organized in the form of direct meetings combined with online meetings. This approach is suitable for the specific characteristics of the locality with a large area and terrain stretching from the highlands to the plains and islands.
Lam Dong currently has 124 communes, wards and special zones. The geographical distance between areas far from the center makes it difficult to organize centralized contacts. Faced with that reality, Lam Dong province has arranged main bridge points and online connections to auxiliary bridge points, ensuring voters in all areas can participate.
Recently, the direct voter contact point at Phu Thuy Ward People's Committee (Lam Dong province) was connected online with bridge points at Mui Ne Ward and Ham Thang Ward People's Committees.
At the main polling station, a large screen broadcasts images and sounds from online polling stations. Voters at polling stations fully follow the presentation of the candidate's action program.
After the presentation, not only voters at the direct polling station but also voters at the online polling stations participated in speaking and making recommendations. Online election campaigning is assessed to still ensure democracy, publicity and quality of content.
Saving travel time, ensuring voter voice
Mr. Nguyen Van Man - voter of Phu Thuy ward - said that organizing direct voter contact combined with online contact creates convenience for people, especially in areas far from the center. This form also helps save time and travel costs for candidates but still ensures the content of the exchange.
As for the Phu Quy Special Economic Zone, online forms are even more effective. Instead of candidates having to travel by high-speed train for about 2.5 hours to reach the island, all images and sounds from the main bridge point are transmitted directly to the bridge point in the Phu Quy Special Economic Zone. Voters on the island participated fully, asking many questions and proposing issues.

Colonel Huynh Ngoc Liem - Deputy Director of Lam Dong Provincial Police, candidate for National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term - said that online election campaigning is in line with the current digital transformation trend. According to him, at the polls, voters raised many practical and frank opinions, not inferior to direct contact.
The flexible combination of direct and online election campaigning has helped expand the scope of voter access, ensuring that all classes of people have conditions to participate and contribute opinions. This is considered a suitable solution for a large area like Lam Dong, contributing to improving the effectiveness of election campaigning in the new period.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Delegate Affairs, Deputy Chief of the Standing Office of the National Election Council Office Ta Thi Yen said that the requirement for contacting voters to mobilize online elections is to ensure technical conditions and information security, and network security.
According to the latest guidance of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF), the organization of voter contact conferences to mobilize the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term takes place in a short time and many localities after arrangement and merger have wide areas, commune levels in mountainous areas and islands have difficult travel conditions.
Therefore, based on the practical conditions of the locality, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the provincial and commune levels shall agree with the People's Committees of the same level to organize voter contact conferences to mobilize elections for National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies at all levels in appropriate forms.
National Assembly deputy candidates can campaign for online or direct elections combined with online is an important new point in the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The effectiveness of the online voter contact conference depends greatly on the role of the operator and the attitude and skills of the candidates. The operator needs to firmly grasp the program, proactively connect bridge points, skillfully allocate speaking time, and avoid interrupting or biasing the conference towards some bridge points.
For candidates, participating in online voter contact requires more careful preparation in presentation and expression. The language must be clear and easy to understand; the answer content needs to go straight to the issue that voters are interested in.
