On the afternoon of October 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department informed that during the construction of the A branch bridgehead at the Ring Road 3 intersection with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway, the construction unit discovered a phenomenon of local subsidence at the foot of a retaining wall with a bridge, about 35 m long, in the retaining wall area 6 m or higher.
Immediately after the incident was discovered, all related construction activities were immediately stopped. The units have urgently removed the filling material behind the bridge abutments to minimize the impact on the surrounding structure, while coordinating to review, determine the cause and study technical solutions to avoid repeating similar situations at locations with high filling heights.
The design documents for adjusting the bridgehead road item of the package have been submitted by the Traffic Department to the competent authority for appraisal according to regulations.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department, the overall progress of the section through Ho Chi Minh City (47 km long) has reached about 63%. The project still aims to open the overpass from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh Expressway to the Tan Van intersection (14.7 km long) on December 19, 2025.
To achieve this goal, the Traffic Department has directed contractors to work all night, organize 3 shifts, 4 teams, mobilize maximum equipment, human resources and materials to closely follow the plan.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has also just issued a document recommending the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to assign the Traffic Department to have a solution to completely handle the problem of branch bridge A so as not to affect the progress and quality of the project.
According to the Department of Construction, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project is a national key project, receiving special attention from the Government, the Prime Minister and the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, regularly inspecting the site and directing the removal of obstacles, ensuring the required progress.
December 19, 2025: Opening 14.7 km of the overpass through Thu Duc City (formerly) and technically opening 32.6 km of the expressway through Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Binh Chanh (formerly).
April 30, 2026: The entire 47.3 km of the expressway will be opened to traffic.
June 30, 2026: Completion and opening of the entire Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.
To ensure progress, the Department of Construction believes that the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department needs to request relevant units to strengthen inspection, supervision and organize construction more drastically.
For the overpass section through Thu Duc (14.7 km long), it is necessary to organize 3 shifts, 4 teams continuously; proactively source plastic materials to deploy asphalt concrete pavement. The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department needs to coordinate with the Binh Duong Provincial Traffic Project Management Board to agree on a connection solution with the Tan Van intersection, ensuring traffic organization along the route on schedule.
For the section through Cu Chi, Hoc Mon and Binh Chanh (32.6 km long), it is necessary to urgently resolve difficulties in filling materials, weak soil treatment, and ensure foundation quality.
Increase management personnel, mobilize adequate equipment, machinery, and financial resources; reserve construction time in unfavorable weather conditions; make up for slow output, regularly inspect the site, promptly propose solutions to ensure progress and quality.
In particular, the Department of Construction requested the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Department to thoroughly handle contractors who are behind schedule.
