Vietnam and international partners promote energy saving and green transformation strategies

Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long worked with the Green Climate Fund and the World Bank to promote sustainable energy cooperation.

On the afternoon of April 18, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long received a working delegation of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the World Bank in Vietnam to promote the implementation of the Project to Promote Energy Saving in Vietnam's industries. The meeting was also attended by Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang, Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Public Upgrade.

The GCF and World Bank working group included Mr. Hemant Mandal, Director of the Asia-Pacific region and Ms. Zayra Romo, Head of the Energy and Infrastructure Department, World Bank in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long shared Vietnam's strategic orientation in improving energy efficiency and green transformation. He emphasized the importance of mobilizing green financial resources to achieve sustainable energy goals and minimize risks in implementation.

Representative of GCF, Mr. Hemant Mandal, highly appreciated Vietnam's orientation and expressed his desire to accompany and support Vietnam to become a driving force for regional economic development. GCSF also hopes to promote cooperation through the SIBAs mechanism, to support small and medium enterprises in accessing green finance, accelerating the green transformation process in Vietnam.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long suggested that GCSP and the World Bank continue to support the Ministry of Industry and Trade in implementing current projects and expanding cooperation in priority areas such as the development of offshore wind power, solar power, and connecting the power grid in Southeast Asia.
