Dak Lak - Viettel Dak Lak is a pioneering telecommunications network, taking the lead in eliminating signal depressions and is ready to cover 5G for people to use.

Bringing telecommunications networks to remote areas

Dak Lak province is a mountainous province with many remote and isolated areas...

Many years ago, the lives of ethnic minorities in Buon Don and Ea Sup districts (bordering the Kingdom of Cambodia) faced many difficulties in communication because the telecommunications network was not yet covered.

Ms. H’Lan Nie (residing in Buon Don district) shared: “My house is in a remote area near the Cambodian border. Before, every time I had to talk to someone far away, I had to ride my motorbike to an area with phone signal to contact. However, this location is dozens of kilometers away from home, so it was very inconvenient for my family."

"Since Viettel installed the telecommunications network, my family and all the neighbors have been excited. After having a phone signal, my family bought smartphones and computers, so it is easy to contact relatives. As for the children, they can quickly access information on the Internet right in the stilt house to serve their studies" - Ms. H'Lan Nie added.

According to Viettel Dak Lak, in 2004, the initial infrastructure of the unit was 2 broadcasting stations with 7 staff members. After 20 years, Viettel Dak Lak has 1,700 mobile broadcasting stations, 250,000 broadband Internet fiber optic ports and more than 7,500km of fiber optic cables covering 100% of communes and wards in the whole province.

Since Viettel installed telecommunications network and received Internet signal, the spiritual life of soldiers and people in the border area has improved significantly."

Pioneering in bringing 5G network coverage to the plateau

According to Viettel Dak Lak, in 2024, the unit aims to bring 5G waves to the people of Dak Lak province. Thereby, contributing to the goal of "every citizen is a true digital citizen".

Lieutenant Colonel Pham Viet Hung - Director of Viettel Dak Lak - said: "In the immediate future, the unit will cover 5G in Buon Ma Thuot city in 2024. Next, Viettel Dak Lak will continue to improve infrastructure, upgrade equipment to aim for 5G coverage throughout the province in the following years.

"The ability to connect multimedia and read data quickly of the 5G network will bring many advantages to people and businesses to develop and improve competitiveness. This is also an important foundation to further promote the digital transformation of authorities at all levels in Dak Lak province" - Lieutenant Colonel Pham Viet Hung shared more.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Ha - Standing Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee said: "I highly appreciate the efforts, commitment and companionship of Viettel Dak Lak with the locality in the process of carrying out the very important task of digital transformation".

According to Mr. Ha, the province's viewpoint is that in the digital transformation process, businesses and people will be the center. Authorities and telecommunications units will create favorable conditions for people and businesses when handling administrative procedures or in state management work...

In early September 2024, Viettel still had nearly 1 million customers using 2G phones, a significant decrease compared to the 8 million at the beginning of the year. The efforts in the final stage to ensure that 100% of customers do not have their communication interrupted when the whole country officially stops providing 2G services most comprehensively reflect Viettel's spirit of service. This is even more meaningful when placed in the context of the network operator aiming to celebrate 20 years of mobile service business (October 15, 2004 - October 15, 2024).
