On November 11, the Working Group of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction coordinated with the Department of Economics - Infrastructure and Urban Areas of Vung Tau Ward to conduct a field survey of alley 634 Tran Phu on Tuong Ky Mountain (also known as Lon Mountain).
Previously, grasping the situation in this area with a high risk of landslides, Vung Tau ward organized the evacuation of a total of 81 people from 19 households living in the area.
The survey team noted that this area is located on a steep mountain slope, with weak soil, many houses built without embankment... At the same time, it was noted that some locations have been dug with frog jaw, landslides, and foundation, with the risk of landslides, causing unsafety for apartments in the area; endangering the lives and property of households living below.
Talking with the Department of Construction Working Group, the Economic - Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department of Vung Tau Ward said that it will propose building a section of embankment to prevent and limit landslides; at the same time, ensure safety for the area below.
"In the immediate future, we have relocated households for a few days, but the locality is quite confused when having to relocate many households for a long time. But it is also impossible to let households return to live because it is unsafe," said a representative of the Department of Economics - Infrastructure and Urban Areas of Vung Tau Ward.
The Department of Construction working group also said that the team has conducted a field inspection, and will have a written report to the Department's leaders to grasp the current situation. On that basis, assess and consider implementing measures to overcome and prevent landslides that affect the property and lives of people in the area.
