On the afternoon of September 23, the Office of the People's Committee of Dong Thap province said that departments and agencies are reviewing the final stage of preparation for receiving the red-crowned cranes. Previously, on September 14, 2026, Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc officially agreed to allow the People's Committee of Dong Thap province to receive this rare bird flock. This is the 3rd red-crowned crane reception of Dong Thap province according to the Project "Conservation and development of red-crowned cranes at Tram Chim National Park in the period 2022 - 2032".
After 2 successful reception phases in 2025 and June 2026 (6 individuals each phase), this 3rd phase is the largest scale ever with 12 individuals, including 8 young cranes and 4 adult cranes. In order to best prepare for the new crane flock, Tram Chim National Park is urgently completing entry procedures and animal quarantine. At the same time, the unit has developed a detailed transportation plan, completed barns and stockpiled ecological feed sources, ensuring optimal care conditions as soon as cranes arrive.
For thorough preparation, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Phuoc Thien requested relevant departments and agencies to closely coordinate and complete the legal documents, especially quarantine and CITES permits. The process of receiving, handing over and transporting cranes to Tram Chim National Park needs to be carefully calculated, ensuring absolute safety for the health of the flock during the journey. Mr. Thien especially emphasized promoting communication about the Project on conservation and development of Red-crowned Cranes at Tram Chim National Park. Through this, Dong Thap hopes to spread the message of environmental protection, attracting wider and deeper cooperation from organizations, experts, scientists and the community for the effort to revive the symbolic bird species of the wetlands.
