In recent days, the family of Mr. Nguyen Quang Ngoi - Lam Thuong commune, Lao Cai province - has become a shelter for officers and workers working on the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project every time a storm comes.
Mr. Ngoi gave the entire lower room to the staff and workers for eating, sleeping, and living. Because he simply thought that helping the power line project to quickly speed up, reach the finish line, and energize before August 19 as requested by the Prime Minister is also the wish of the people here.
Pointing to the top of the hill where the VT140 pole is under construction, Mr. Le Van Du - the project's executive engineer - said: "This is one of the most difficult locations in the project. The nearly 2km road from the foot of the hill to the top seems not far, but after heavy rain, it is muddy and slippery. Many times the truck cannot get on, so the brothers walk, carrying every meter of cable and iron bar. The storm is so hard but no one allows me to give up when the whole project is waiting.
Mr. Van Minh Tam (construction unit) also shared: The work here is extremely difficult because of the complex terrain, dense hills, and large slopes. Opening the road to the construction site also takes a lot of time and effort. Long, heavy steel pipes cannot be transported in whole, forcing them to be divided into many sections for easy transportation.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Quang Khai - Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board 1, Director of the Project Management Board - said: Due to the urgent construction, Power Project Management Board 1 has directed the contractor to make the most of the time before the storm to transport materials and start construction. At some locations affected by storms, the board has directed contractors to move all construction equipment and materials to safe shelters.
Currently, 100% of officers and employees of the Project Management Board have been mobilized and on duty at the construction site according to the "4 on-site" motto. Natural disaster prevention and control plans have been activated and deployed simultaneously at locations on the construction site" - the Director of the Project Management Board expressed.
