On the morning of August 31, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (CNCH) of Quang Tri Provincial Police said that at around 6:30 p.m. on August 30, the unit received a report from Hieu Giang Commune Police about 6 people working in cajuput forest in Thuong Lam village (Hieu Giang commune) being isolated, lacking food and drinking water.
Immediately afterwards, the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area No. 6 mobilized 1 vehicle and 7 officers and soldiers to quickly arrived at the scene.
Through reconnaissance, detecting victims trapped on the other side of the river, with high and fast-flowing floodwaters, the unit requested to increase forces with 1 canoe and 14 officers and soldiers from the Rescue Team of Area No. 1 to support.
At 9:20 p.m., the rescue force coordinated with Hieu Giang Commune Police and the security forces of Cam Phu village to use a canoe to cross the river, bringing all 6 people to safety.
Previously, at 3:50 p.m. on August 30, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police coordinated with Huong Hiep Commune Police to rescue 5 people who were working in cajuput forests in Hieu Giang Commune and encountered heavy rain. When the floodwaters rose, they were isolated and could not return home.
It is known that from August 29 to August 30, due to the impact of storm No. 6, there was heavy rain in Quang Tri province, causing floodwaters to rise, causing local flooding in many areas.
