Ia Mo is one of the 7 border communes of Gia Lai province, bordering Cambodia. The commune is surrounded by vast grasslands, mixed forests and Ia Mo large irrigation lake with an investment of VND3,000 billion.
In recent years, the economic and social life of thousands of households here has largely changed thanks to the valuable irrigation water source from the irrigation reservoir. As of June 30, 2025, the total planted area in the commune reached more than 11,833 hectares. This is a new step forward, ensuring the ability to provide food to people, especially during the peak season.

Therefore, the border commune has identified the key to poverty reduction as increasing support for job creation for workers; mobilizing and propagating workers to work abroad under contracts, especially workers in poor and near-poor households, workers in disadvantaged areas and ethnic minority areas.

Mr. Kpa Thoac - Head of the Department of Culture - Social Affairs, Ia Mo Commune People's Committee - said that the commune government focuses on vocational training and job creation for rural workers. Vocational subjects such as farming, animal husbandry, agricultural machinery repair are highly applicable in real life, close to the needs of students.
Due to the characteristics of border labor associated with flower cultivation, animal husbandry, and forest protection under the form of contracts, vocational training activities will be effective.

In the fourth quarter of 2025, the People's Committee of Ia Mo commune organized two vocational training classes for 35 workers in Klah village to improve their qualifications and understanding. At the opening ceremony, people were excited and excited because the vocational training class brought a lot of useful knowledge, meeting the daily requirements of agricultural production.
In the Resolution of the 1st Ia Mo Commune Party Congress, term 2025-2030, it affirmed improving cultural life, people's knowledge, and vocational training for people to develop the economy, thereby limiting violations, cutting down, and encroachment on forest land.
The goal by 2030 is that Ia Mo border commune will no longer have poor households; the average income will reach over 40 million VND/person/year; the total output of nutritional food will reach 12,000 tons; the total herd will be 3,200 cows; the total flock of 4,500 poultry; the rate of health insurance participants will reach 95%.
In particular, the target of the rate of trained workers by 2030 is to reach 50% of the total number of people of working age.
Recently, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province held a groundbreaking ceremony to build schools for 7 border communes with an investment capital of 1,500 billion VND. The attention in the Party and State's policies on general education and vocational education is a sustainable foundation to improve the social life of people in border areas.
