On the morning of February 26, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Nguyen Van Quang - Road 1B - Road No. 7, Nam Long residential area, Hung Thanh ward, Cai Rang district, Can Tho city.
Initial information, the accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. At the time of the incident, the bus with license plate 51B.082.54, which was on the route to pick up and drop off students, moving from Nguyen Van Quang Street and turning left at the intersection, collided with 2 motorbikes traveling in the opposite direction at the intersection.
The strong collision caused a man driving a motorbike to get caught under the bus and dragged for a long distance, only stopping when the bus hit the gate of a nearby house. The man was seriously injured and is in critical condition. The other motorbike was thrown into the middle of the road, 2 people on the motorbike were injured, one of whom had a broken arm.
At around 9:30 a.m. the same day, after the authorities finished examining the scene, the bus in the accident was towed away. The cause of the accident is being investigated and clarified by Cai Rang District Police.
According to information from the leader of Ly Tu Trong High School for the Gifted (Cai Rang District, Can Tho City), there were 34 students of the school on the bus at the time of the accident. The students panicked after the collision but fortunately no one was injured. Immediately after the accident, the school's teachers quickly arrived to reassure their spirits and take the students on foot back to school, about 1km from the scene.
"The bus driver is also the owner of the bus and is currently working with the police to clarify the cause of the accident," said the school leader.
It is known that this bus service for picking up and dropping off students was signed between the school, the parent representative and a passenger transport unit. Students who need to use the service can register with the school.
Currently, Cai Rang District Police are investigating and clarifying the cause of the accident.
