Eliminate dilapidated houses in Tuyen Quang: Every shelter, a chance to change your life

ĐÔNG DU |

Faced with the reality that many households in rural areas and ethnic minority areas still have to live in temporary and dilapidated houses, since 2021, Tuyen Quang has implemented a temporary house removal program with the determination to "set up before making a living". The goal in 2025 is to handle 6,928 units, including 4,525 newly built units and 2,403 renovated units, with a budget of more than 343 billion VND.

The program was implemented synchronously, mobilizing many resources: Budget, "For the Poor" Fund, socialization and even contributions from households. By early May 2025, the whole province had completed 6,388 houses, reaching 92.21% of the plan; many localities had inaugurated and handed over Dai Doan Dai houses to poor households.

The scale of resources is increasingly expanding: From more than 630 billion VND initially to nearly 797 billion VND in August 2025, with 135,000 working days and many construction materials. This result reflects the influence of socialization and active community participation.

The biggest impact of the program is not only the solid houses but also creating a premise for stabilizing life and developing livelihoods. After having a solid place to live, many households focused on production, vocational training, and job search. By July 1, 2025, the poverty rate will decrease from 23.45% to 10.19%, of which the policy of eliminating temporary houses contributes significantly.

The lesson learned from Tuyen Quang is the solidarity of the State, community, and people. The role of Party committees, the Front, and organizations, along with the contributions of the armed forces, businesses, and people, has created a strong momentum. The province continues to support vocational training, job creation, and small loans, helping people "set up" and "make a living". This is a testament to the effectiveness of social security policies when combined with improving production capacity, responding to the movement "For the poor - No one is left behind".
