Nearly 3 pm, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang's car (residing in Loc Binh district) was called up and brought into the inspection chain.
Previously, he had been present at the vehicle registration center from early morning, patiently waiting for many hours amidst the long line of vehicles outside the yard.
These days are always crowded like that. I brought my car in the morning but now it's my turn. It's also a common situation, at the end of the year, cars simultaneously come for inspection.
Some people also have the mentality of registering early, because to be close to the Lunar New Year, they are busy and cannot register," Mr. Thang shared.
According to Mr. Thang, most of the time is prolonged in the waiting round-robin stage. When the car has been put into the inspection department, the process takes place quite quickly.

When entering the chain, it only takes about 15-20 minutes to finish, if the car has no technical errors. Waiting the longest is still outside," he said.
Mr. Thang's story is also a common reality at many vehicle registration centers in the northern mountainous provinces in the days leading up to the end of the year.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong - Technical Director of Vehicle Registration Center 12-01D said that the situation of many vehicles at the end of the year has become a tradition.

At the end of the year, the number of vehicles is usually a bit more concentrated, mainly due to the psychology of people wanting to register for inspection early to facilitate travel and transportation during Tet. However, the level is only more than usual, not to the point of overload or serious congestion," Mr. Cuong said.
According to Mr. Cuong, currently in Lang Son province there are 2 motor vehicle registration centers, each center has the capacity to receive about 70 vehicles/day.
With this capacity, the units still basically meet the registration needs of the people, even in the peak days of the year.
The long waiting time mainly stems from people gathering to go for registration at the same time, especially in the morning.

There are days when people come quite early, waiting from morning to afternoon to get their turn. However, that is due to congested vehicles according to the time, not due to lack of chains or lack of manpower," Mr. Cuong added.
Regarding implementation organization, each center currently arranges 4 inspectors to work regularly.
The workload at the end of the year has increased, but not to the point of having to work overtime, the lines are still operating in accordance with regulations.
The inspection time for passenger cars usually ranges from about 15-20 minutes/vehicle if no technical errors occur.

Not only in Lang Son, a similar situation was also recorded in Son La.
According to Mr. Bui Trong Thang - Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Son La province, at the end of the year, the number of vehicles coming for registration in the province has increased compared to normal days but is still within the capacity of the centers.
Vehicle registration activities mainly take place according to periodic cycles. When the deadline comes, the vehicle owner takes the vehicle for inspection, so there is an increase at the end of the year, but no sudden increase causing overload has been recorded," Mr. Thang informed.
Currently, in Son La province, 4 vehicle registration centers are still operating normally, ensuring to serve the needs of people and businesses.
The Vehicle Registration Center recommends that vehicle owners should proactively monitor vehicle registration deadlines, arrange time reasonably, and avoid being concentrated in the same time frame.
At the same time, prior inspection of the vehicle's technical condition will help shorten inspection time and reduce waiting pressure in the peak days of the year.
