On December 25, Duc Giang General Hospital launched a pilot model of applying unmanned aerial vehicles in medical transport.
Associate Professor, Dr. Do Dinh Tung, Director of Duc Giang General Hospital, said that this model helps improve proactiveness and timeliness in professional work, especially in situations that require quick response, while contributing to ensuring medical fairness through effectively connecting the grassroots level with the upper level.

The UAV model deployed at Duc Giang General Hospital has a cruise speed of up to 60 km/h, a radius of about 15 km, and is integrated with real-time journey surveillance cameras. The specialized container is sealed, meeting strict requirements for disease samples, drugs and medical supplies.

Each route is expected to operate two flights per day. In case of emergency needs from medical facilities, Vietnam Post will proactively increase equipment and transportation frequency, on the basis of being permitted by state management agencies.
In the next roadmap, the test aircraft model will be gradually upgraded, towards a flight range of about 20 km, with a Medical Transport capacity of about 10 kg, better meeting practical needs.
