The Drug Administration of Vietnam (Ministry of Health) has just sent a document to the Departments of Health of provinces and cities to announce the fake drug Theophylline 100mg on the market, in which it requested the Departments of Health of provinces and cities to notify drug businesses and users and people not to buy/sell or use the product.
According to the Department of Drug Administration, on July 21, the Department received an official dispatch with the Testing Form from the Dong Nai Provincial Testing Center reporting that the product sample had information stated on the label of Theophylline extended - Release tablets 100 mg (Theophyllin 100 mg), batch number 05089, NSX 02/3/2022, HD 02/3/2026; place of manufacture Pharmacy Laboratories Plus (Warszawa); the drug sample did not have information about the product identification certificate and/or GPNK number, import facility on the label.
The drug sample was taken by the Interdisciplinary Inspection Team to inspect compliance with the law on environmental protection, food safety, health and insurance in Dong Nai province (old Binh Phuoc) at My Anh General Clinic Company Limited (My Anh Pharmacy), address: Da Kia Intersection, Village 4, Da Kia Commune, Bu Gia Map District, Binh Phuoc Province (old); did not meet the quality requirements for the quantity quota (19.71%) and the soluble quota (18.8-22.5%) of the amount stated on Theophylline label according to DVN V standard.
To ensure the safety of users, the Drug Administration of Dong Nai province requests the Department of Health to urgently report to Steering Committee 389 and coordinate with the police, market management agencies, Steering Committee 389 of the locality and relevant authorities to conduct an inspection and examination of My Anh General Clinic Company Limited at the above address;
Continue to trace the origin of the batch of products with information recorded on the label Theophyllin extended release tablet (Theophylline 100mg), where the product is manufactured: Pharmacy laboratories Plus, on the label there is no information about the product identification certificate and/or GPNK number, information about the import facility; strictly handle the violating facility according to regulations; report the results of inspection, examination, and handling to the Department of Drug Administration before July 31, 2025.
The Drug Administration of Vietnam requests the Department of Health of central provinces and cities to notify drug businesses and users and people not to buy/sell or use the above product Theophyllin extended release tablet (Theophylline 100mg); promptly notify suspected signs of the production and trading of fake drugs and drugs of unknown origin to health agencies and relevant authorities.
According to the Department of Drug Administration, from December 31, 2024, the Department issued Official Letter No. 4229/QLD-C and Official Letter No. 1430/QLD-CL dated May 28, 2025 to the Departments of Health of provinces and centrally run cities to notify about the fake drug Theophylline 200mg, manufacturing place: Pharmacy laboratories Plus (Warszawa); the drug sample does not have information about the product identification number and/or GPNK number on the label.
In these documents, the Department of Drug Administration has requested the Departments of Health to coordinate with competent agencies to inspect, verify, and trace the origin of the above counterfeit drugs; direct the Testing Center to increase sample collection and quality testing of drugs in circulation in the area for drugs at risk of being counterfeit or of poor quality.
