On May 16, news from Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee said that there was Decision No. 1595 on continuing to apply Decision No. 37 dated June 30, 2025 of the Provincial People's Committee detailing cases where people who already have houses owned but are far from their workplace are still considered for social housing support policies after implementing administrative boundaries arrangement.
According to Decision No. 1595, Decision No. 37 will continue to be applied uniformly in the new Khanh Hoa province after the arrangement of provincial-level administrative units.
This is considered an important legal basis to solve housing needs for cadres, civil servants, public employees, workers and eligible subjects, even if they already have housing but their current residence is far from their workplace, causing difficulties in living and working.
The continued application of the above regulations aims to ensure the continuity of social security policies, creating conditions for workers to stabilize their accommodation and feel secure at work, especially in the context of adjusted administrative boundaries, changing the travel distance of many people.
Houses 30km or more from workplace are still allowed to buy social housing
According to Decision No. 37, in case people who are eligible to buy or rent social housing according to legal regulations have houses in their possession but are 30km or more away from their workplace, they will be entitled to social housing support policies.
However, they are only allowed to buy or rent social housing in locations closer to their workplace than the house they already own.
The distance between the owned house and the workplace is determined according to the shortest length of the road or waterway traffic route.
Similarly, the distance between the social housing expected to be purchased or leased with the workplace is also calculated by the shortest traffic route.
