The resettlement area is still deserted after 3 years of completion

TRẦN TUẤN |

Ha Tinh - After more than 3 years of completion, the resettlement area in Dien My commune with 165 plots of land has 2 households to build houses but have not yet moved in.

On the afternoon of March 16, Mr. Phan Ky - Vice Chairman of Huong Khe District People's Committee - said that recently, according to the new request of the Electricity Department, the district has added and installed additional equipment, compensated for electricity and completed the dossier.

It is expected that today, March 17, Ha Tinh Power Company, if it sees the conditions, will turn off electricity in the flood prevention resettlement area of Dien My commune (Huong Khe district) for people to use.

According to Mr. Ky, up to this point, in the Dien My commune resettlement area, 2 households have built houses, 8 households have gathered materials to prepare for housing.

Therefore, after the power outage, the government will also restore a well that has been drilled and continue to drill another well to provide water for people during the construction of houses.

Explaining the delay in drilling wells for people, Mr. Ky said that there is no well drilling item in the resettlement area construction project. Therefore, the People's Committee of the district has just allocated funds to Dien My commune to drill wells when households build houses, to avoid drilling wells first and not living there, which will damage and lose the pump.

"In total, up to now, 40 households have registered in 2025 to build houses in the resettlement area. To cover 165 resettlement plots, in the coming time, we assigned the Dien My commune government to continue to propagate and mobilize people to receive land and commit to building houses. In case we still cannot cover it, we will synthesize, report, and ask the Provincial People's Committee to adjust the project's target, expanding the scope not only in the old Phuong My commune but also in the old Phuong Dien commune," Mr. Phan Ky shared.

As Lao Dong reported, in 2017, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province approved the investment policy for the construction of technical infrastructure for rural residential areas to serve flood prevention and control for the people of Phuong My commune (merged with Phuong Dien commune to form Dien My commune).

The project is invested by the People's Committee of Huong Khe district, including items such as construction of roads, leveling, drainage systems, electrical systems, and a cultural center with a total investment of more than 41 billion VND, resettling 165 households.

According to the approval, the project must be completed by 2019 to resettle people. However, due to land clearance problems and lack of capital, construction will not start until 2021 and will be completed in early 2022.

The reason is that after 3 years of completion, there are still very few households resettling. The representative of the local government said that the process of approving the investment policy until the project was implemented took many years, initially the number of households registering for resettlement was large, but then they proactively upgraded their houses, so they no longer need it.

Secondly, because according to regulations, when resettling, people's old residence must be converted from residential land to cultivated land, so people do not want to change.
