Thousands of social housing units are expected to be completed

According to the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province, implementing the Government's Project to invest in the construction of at least 1 million social housing apartments in the 2021-2030 period, the province is assigned a minimum completion target of 13,787 apartments. Of which, in the 2021-2025 period, about 6,287 units will be completed, in the 2026-2030 period, about 7,500 units will be completed.

In 2025 alone, Thanh Hoa province was assigned a target of completing 5,249 apartments. Currently, there are 12 projects being implemented in the area, with a total land use area of over 32 hectares, providing about 11,780 apartments.

Up to now, the total number of apartments completed in the 2021-2025 period (including 2 projects completed in 2021) is 2,643 apartments. The selling price of social housing apartments ranges from 12.6 million VND/m2 to 20.6 million VND/m2.

To complete the social housing development target in 2025, the Provincial People's Committee has directed functional departments and branches to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process. In particular, the focus is on accelerating the progress of 4 projects including: Social housing project under Project No. 1 of Thanh Hoa City Center; Social housing project for workers in the eastern area of Le Mon Industrial Park; Social housing project in Quang Thanh ward; and Social housing project in Nam Ngan ward. These four projects are highly feasible, expected to add about 3,500 apartments, bringing the total number of apartments completed in 2025 to more than 5,300 apartments.

According to the representative of the Department of Construction of Thanh Hoa province, although there are many projects that are being implemented, there are many difficulties, of which the main reason is lack of capital and long legal procedures, leading to slow progress. However, with the drastic direction of the province and the involvement of the functional industry, the removal of difficulties, speeding up the project is expected to meet the set targets.

The Department of Construction also thoroughly grasps that the purchase, lease, and hire-purchase of social housing cannot be done through trading floors not owned by investors; speculation and reselling are strictly prohibited in violation of regulations. Organizations and individuals who commit acts of brokerage "selling", accepting "deposits" and "counseling fees" in violation of regulations will be strictly handled according to the law.
