The U16 Vietnam team is entering a sprint training phase to complete the final preparations before leaving for China to participate in the 2025 CFA Team China U16 International Football Tournament.
In the recent past, the U16 Vietnam team had two practice matches with U17 Hanoi and Bac Ninh at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. This is also an opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate the tactical operation as well as the ability of each player.
Sharing in the afternoon session of May 23, coach Cristiano Roland highly appreciated the progress of his players in the past two weeks.
The past two weeks have been very important as the players have gotten used to the national team environment. I am satisfied with the quick adaptation of many students as well as the efforts of the whole team".
"The spirit and attitude in training and competition are something I especially appreciate, because they always show the will to overcome difficulties and proactively find solutions when encountering problems on the field," Mr. Roland emphasized.
Evaluating the players' physical foundation, coach Cristiano Roland said:
"Compared to the previous generation, the current students have a better physical foundation, meet training programs and are able to maintain their physical strength in difficult situations. However, this is a long process and they need to continue to accumulate to develop further".
The upcoming U16 International Friendly Tournament is considered an important test occasion for the current generation of players to prepare for the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.
The tournament is a quality test with three strong opponents, creating an opportunity for the players to clearly understand their level of play in the Asian region and accumulate valuable experience, Mr. Roland added.
Before leaving for China to participate in the tournament, the coaching staff will finalize the list of the U16 team including 23-24 players. The Brazilian coach shared that this is just the beginning of a long journey to prepare for the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers.
According to the plan, the U16 Vietnam team will have another practice match before officially leaving for China on the morning of May 25. The 2025 CFA Team China International U16 Football Tournament will take place from May 28 to June 1, 2025 with the participation of 4 U16 teams: Vietnam, Australia, Saudi Arabia and host China.
