VFF leaders met and encouraged the spirit of U22 Vietnam ahead of the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian tournament.

At noon on July 8, in Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Vice President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Anh Tu visited and encouraged the U22 Vietnam team in the preparation period for the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship.

Vice President Tran Anh Tu affirmed that VFF always puts the development of youth football first, especially creating the best conditions for U22 Vietnam to have comprehensive preparation for the upcoming important tournament. In addition to the goal at the Southeast Asian U23, the team also aims for other tournaments such as the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.

VFF leaders also highly appreciated the team's thorough preparation process in recent times, from organizing training sessions in parallel with the national team from the end of 2024, to participating in quality friendly tournaments in China.

In particular, the team had two effective professional practice matches with U23 Taiwan (China) during the training period in Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

Vice Chairman Tran Anh Tu praised the serious working spirit, efforts and high determination of the entire team. He emphasized that U23 Vietnam is the defending champion of the tournament after being crowned twice in a row in 2022 and 2023. However, maintaining the position is a big challenge as opponents in the region are investing heavily in youth football.

Therefore, the whole team continues to promote the spirit of competition to do their best to defend the title and demonstrate the correct development orientation of Vietnamese youth football.

According to the plan, the U22 Vietnam team will continue to practice in Ba Ria - Vung Tau until July 12, before leaving for Indonesia on July 14. Before moving, coach Kim Sang-ik will finalize the official list of 23 players participating in the tournament.

At the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, U22 Vietnam will compete under the name of the U23 Vietnam team. In the group stage, the whole team will face U23 Laos on July 19 and U23 Cambodia on July 22.

Vice President Tran Anh Tu was also assigned to take on the role of Head of the U23 Vietnam delegation in this tournament.
