Boiled or steamed green vegetables
Broccoli, canola, squash, pennywort, artichokes are vegetables that are beneficial for liver and kidney function.
The fiber in green vegetables helps eliminate toxins through the digestive tract, reducing the metabolic burden on the liver. Broccoli and canola also contain sulforaphane, a powerful antioxidant that can activate detoxification enzymes in the liver.
Gotu kola soup or artichoke soup
Gotu kola and artichoke both have the effect of cooling the liver, excretion, and diuretic. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), flavonoids in gotu kola help protect liver cells, fight inflammation and help improve blood filtration function in the kidneys.
Artichoke has the effect of reducing liver enzymes ALT, AST in people with non-alcoholic fatty liver. Eating gotu kola or artichoke soup in the evening helps purify the body gently before resting.
Steamed fish or tofu
Dates are an essential element for the body, but if you eat a lot of animal dam, especially from red meat in the evening, the liver and kidneys have to work too hard to process them.
replace part of the animal dam with plant dam or fish rich in omega-3 such as basa fish, salmon, mackerel.
Tofu is a suitable alternative that is both gentle for the digestive system and does not cause the accumulation of urea, a waste that the kidneys must filter.
Brown rice or oat congee
Complex starches such as brown rice or oats are rich in soluble fiber, which helps regulate blood sugar and blood lipids.
Using a bowl of oatmeal congee or brown rice with steamed vegetables and fish is an ideal dinner to nourish the liver and kidneys while still maintaining energy.
Low-sugar fruit dessert
Watermelon, pear, apple, black grape or mulberry are fruits that have both a cooling and diuretic effect.
A study by the National Kidney Foundation found that supplementing water-rich and potassium-rich fruits such as watermelon or pear helps enhance the filtering function of the kidneys, while reducing pressure on the liver in processing metabolic products.
However, you should avoid fruits with high sugar content such as mangoes and longan in the evening.
Notes when creating an evening menu for the liver and kidneys:
Do not eat dinner too late (preferably before 7:00 p.m.) so that the liver has enough time to detoxify at night.
Limit fried, greasy or spicy foods.
Drink enough water throughout the day, especially a glass of warm water before bed to support blood circulation to the liver and kidneys.
