MỸ LY |

In addition to regular health check-up policies, occupational safety and hygiene has been given special attention by units in Can Tho City. This has created a favorable working environment for employees, contributing to improving production efficiency.

Fully equipped with labor protection

Having been working for nearly 20 years, Mr. Le Quoc Viet - Head of the installation team of the Water Supply and Drainage Construction Enterprise - shared that because they often work outdoors and are exposed to toxic environments, workers must pay attention to ensuring occupational safety and hygiene (OSH), comply with procedures, and strictly follow the company's rules and regulations to minimize risks to themselves and their colleagues.

According to Mr. Viet, in addition to organizing regular health check-ups, providing preferential treatment and in-kind allowances such as sugar and milk to help workers recover and restore their labor force, the company also opens annual training courses to review and update knowledge on occupational safety and health for workers. Thanks to that, workers have a high sense of responsibility and practice occupational safety and health when performing their duties: "With careful instructions and full equipment of labor protection tools, the brothers also feel secure at work and serve the people more wholeheartedly."

Mr. Tran Trung Thinh - Acting Director of Water Supply and Drainage Construction Enterprise - informed that due to the nature of the job with many risks, the unit always pays attention to occupational safety and health. Along with regularly organizing quarterly and monthly training courses, the company also fully equips traffic warning devices, barriers, and signs to ensure the safety of workers while performing their tasks.

“When exposed to a toxic working environment, workers will be equipped with additional gas masks, multi-gas meters (used to measure abnormal gas concentrations that can affect workers), oxygen machines (used by workers in harsh environments)...”, Mr. Thinh said.

Digital transformation application

After more than 10 years working at O Mon I Thermal Power Plant (O Mon District, Can Tho City), in addition to good benefits and treatment, what helps Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - Automatic Electrical Repair Workshop, Automatic Control Team - complete her assigned tasks well is compliance with occupational safety and health.

Ms. Huong shared that at the beginning of each shift, workers will be informed about occupational safety and health. When performing tasks, the commanding officer will also inform the following officers and the operating party about occupational safety and health before starting work. Thanks to that, safety is always guaranteed: "Every time we work, we have a risk assessment before starting work. In case of danger, we will report back and find a way to handle it."

Mr. Nguyen Huu Loc - Deputy Director of Can Tho Thermal Power Company - said that the company and the union are always proactive in occupational safety and health. The occupational safety and health council, including professional members and union members, will be established to plan for providing labor protection equipment and supervise the work process to ensure safety for workers.

According to the Deputy Director of Can Tho Thermal Power Company, one of the issues to ensure safety for electricity workers is the operating sequence. The company has applied digital transformation in the operating sequence to ensure that operations are not missing, skipped, or have incorrect steps, etc., as well as arranging safety and hygiene officers in groups to supervise during the work process. Each employee will also be periodically trained according to regulations with lecturers from reputable units and companies.

In the first 9 months of 2024, Can Tho City Labor Federation has developed a monitoring plan at enterprises, coordinated with relevant sectors to conduct inspections, checks, and supervision of the implementation of Labor Law, Occupational Safety and Health, social insurance, health insurance, and implementation of the Grassroots Democracy Regulations at 29 enterprises; Organized 2 training courses on occupational safety and health for 170 union officials and officials working on occupational safety and health at enterprises, prevention of occupational diseases, and prevention of tobacco harms at the workplace.
