Invest heavily in workers' health
By the end of October 2024, the Health Sector Trade Union had sent 5 delegations of highly qualified cadres, doctors and nurses to coordinate with 5 district-level Labor Federations: Ha Long, Cam Pha, Mong Cai, Dong Trieu, Quang Yen to organize consultation and health check-ups for 650 female workers in industrial parks and enterprises in the area.
These are business units with a high proportion of workers of pre-marital and childbearing age and businesses with a high risk of occupational diseases.
Through the “Your Health” model, hundreds of female workers have been educated about health care, family planning, and have received in-depth gynecological examinations, ultrasounds, and general tests.
In particular, many cases of workers with symptoms or risks of illness have been detected, consulted, given free medicine or prescribed and referred to specialized hospitals or higher-level hospitals for timely treatment.
Ms. Doan Thi Thu Hien - Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Health Trade Union - said: In the coming time, the Quang Ninh Provincial Health Trade Union will continue to advise the Provincial Labor Federation and leaders of the health sector to replicate the model "Your Health", strengthen health education and communication, guide workers on food safety - labor safety, environmental sanitation... towards the goal of improving health care knowledge for employers and workers, contributing to helping all workers receive comprehensive health care and access the best health services.
At the end of September 2024, a free medical examination package worth 1.8 billion VND for union members and employees of the Quang Ninh Education Trade Union was deployed for 1,500 cadres, teachers and employees of affiliated units in 5 areas: Dong Trieu, Uong Bi, Quang Yen, Cam Pha, Ha Long and Eastern districts; including categories such as: Consultation examination, blood pressure measurement, thyroid ultrasound, general abdominal ultrasound, blood sugar quantification, osteoporosis measurement, CEA quantification, TP-TT-GT Bilirubin...
Teacher To Duan - Chairman of the Trade Union of Cam Pha High School - said: "This welfare check-up package is the most valuable package ever, over 1.3 million VND/person. In addition, employees also receive gifts from the company worth 300,000 VND/person. This is a great concern of the industry's trade union for us."
Over the past years, the Education Trade Union has signed cooperation agreements with 4 units in the province and outside the province in the field of health care for cadres, teachers and workers. Every year, health check-up packages have been implemented for cadres, teachers and workers with more than 3,000 people benefiting over 2 billion VND.
Employee health - valuable asset of business
In the past 5 years alone, Quang Ninh trade unions at all levels have proactively organized visits and provided subsidies to more than 227,200 workers facing difficulties, illness, risks, natural disasters, and work-related accidents with a total amount of over 120 billion VND...
Many effective models, programs and methods of the Trade Union have been implemented effectively, becoming a reliable support for workers.
Caring for and creating welfare for workers is to promote the internal strength of the enterprise. Therefore, the cooperation of trade unions at all levels in activities to care for workers and welfare activities for union members not only affirms the position and role of the trade union organization but also creates internal strength for agencies, units and enterprises, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations, towards the goal of rapid, strong and sustainable development, workers are increasingly progressive, have a prosperous and happy life.
The role of trade unions in caring for workers also contributes to creating a strong push for agencies, units and businesses to more actively join hands to care for their valuable assets, actively improve the working environment and enhance policies for workers.
