On April 22, the People's Committee of Can Tho City held a launching ceremony for the Month of Action on Occupational Safety and Hygiene (OSH) and Workers' Month 2025.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep officially launched the 2025 Workers' Safety and Health Action Month with the theme "Strengthening assessment, identification of risks and risks and proactively implementing measures to ensure workplace safety and health" and Workers' Month 2025 with the theme "Vietnamese workers pioneering in the new era".
Accordingly, Vice Chairwoman of Can Tho City People's Committee Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep suggested that Party committees and authorities at all levels need to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of management of occupational safety and health. In particular, it is necessary to pay attention to occupational safety and health for groups of female workers, underage workers, people with disabilities, the elderly, and domestic workers.
The City Labor Federation, the City Farmers' Association, the Can Tho City Youth Union, and the Branch of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry in Can Tho City need to regularly propagate, disseminate, and educate the law on occupational safety and health to leaders, managers, businesses, production and business establishments, employers, and employees to raise awareness, responsibility, and proactive awareness of prevention.
The most important thing is that businesses need to strengthen the implementation of occupational safety and health, focus on self-inspection activities, proactively control and prevent dangerous and harmful factors in businesses, prevent occupational accidents due to high falls, electrical short circuit, falling, collapsing objects; voluntarily comply with the provisions of the law on occupational safety and health, as well as comply with internal regulations, standards, regulations, safe working procedures, etc., Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep emphasized.
Informing at the launching ceremony, Chairwoman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation Le Thi Suong Mai said that activities in response to the Workers' Month in 2025 will be organized by the City Labor Federation enthusiastically and widely such as "Union Members' Red Day"; Sports Festival for workers, civil servants, and laborers; Honoring enterprises for outstanding workers and laborers; Training on occupational safety and health; Awarding Union Shelters, scholarships to children of workers in difficult circumstances and visiting families of workers who have suffered work-related accidents, etc.
In parallel with that, the City Trade Union levels will strengthen information and communication on OSH; Focus on improving working conditions, preventing occupational accidents and occupational diseases; Promote the evaluation, review and control of risks and risks of OSH loss, especially at production facilities with many dangerous and toxic factors, ... in response to the Month of Action on OSH in 2025.
"Promoting the achieved traditions and achievements, aiming to take union members and workers as the activity target, and take workers as the focus of development, the Can Tho City Labor Federation calls on and requests all union members, workers and trade unions at all levels to coordinate with the government, agencies, units, and enterprises, uphold the sense of responsibility, effectively respond to the patriotic emulation movement, be exemplary in labor, production, work and study," said Ms. Le Thi Suong Mai.
At the launching ceremony, the Organizing Committee presented 18 Union Shelters and 200 gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances.
