The Lunar New Year 2025 is a happy and meaningful Tet for Mr. Tran Cong Hoan - a union member of the Power Transmission Company 1 (PTC1), because his family welcomed Tet in a new, spacious, clean house.
Union member Tran Cong Hoan is a driver, in difficult circumstances, with young children, a wife without a stable job, and an unstable income... his family lives in a level 4 house with an area of 24m2 that has seriously degraded. Meanwhile, Mr. Hoan often has to work for a long time, so he is very worried when it rains and is windy... Understanding the situation of the union members, PTC1 Trade Union completed the procedures to request the higher-level trade union to consider and support Mr. Hoan's family with funds to build a house, sourced from the "Union Shelter" program of the electricity industry.
Recently (on February 17), with the cooperation of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, the PTC1 Trade Union coordinated to organize a ceremony to support the "Union Shelter" house for union member Tran Cong Hoan.
Receiving the working group of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, the Vietnam Power Transmission Corporation Trade Union, the PTC1 Trade Union... led by Mr. Do Duc Hung - Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union, in a solid house with a new scent of paint, Mr. Hoan was moved to say that for many years, his family had to live in a dilapidated and cramped house, located outside the Red River dike, so every time it was the rainy and stormy season, family members were always worried. At such times, all family members wish to have enough money to repair and renovate the house.
"The dream of having a solid house seems very distant, but that joy has come when the family received support of 120 million VND from the Trade Union at all levels in EVN Group, with the help of relatives and personal efforts: The family has built a "Trade Union Shelter" and it was completed before Tet - we can live in the dream house" - Mr. Hoan emotionally shared.
Having the same joy as Mr. Hoan, the family of Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vu - a worker at Dong Hai Power Company, Bac Lieu Power Company - also celebrated Tet in the "Union Shelter". The house was built on the scale of a level 4 house, roofed with corrugated iron, brick floor, house area 149m2 with a construction cost of more than 450 million VND. Of which, Mr. Vu was supported by the "Union Shelter" Program of the electricity industry with 60 million VND, the remaining amount was saved by his family and borrowed from the bank to build...
It is known that in 2024, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union approved support to build 48 new "Union Shelters" with an amount of 2.8 billion VND, and approved the repair of 13 houses with an amount of 390 million VND.
Accelerating care for union members and workers
Speaking to reporters, Chairman of the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union Do Duc Hung said that the union's support for the construction of "Union Shelter" for union members' and workers' families in difficult circumstances is a practical and important activity, demonstrating the concern of the government and trade union organizations at all levels in caring for workers, thereby contributing to encouraging workers to overcome difficulties, enthusiastically work in production, contributing their intelligence and strength to the overall development of the Vietnam Electricity industry.
Mr. Do Duc Hung said that from now until the end of 2025, the Vietnam Electricity Trade Union will continue to implement the "Union Shelter" Program to have more union members in EVN Group supported - thereby creating motivation for workers to stabilize their lives, strive to fulfill all assigned tasks well and increasingly believe in the mission of the Vietnam Trade Union in general and all levels of the Trade Union in EVN Group.
Along with that, it is necessary to promote care for and protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and employees. Proactively participate in developing policies and regimes directly related to employees. Ensure jobs and income for union members and employees, coordinate to solve arising problems of employees in units implementing restructuring, equitization, divestment, etc.
